The_vagabond7 said: also another beef is this idea of "professional" videogame journalism. Anybody ever listen to sports talk shows, or sports writing? Watch any political shows, or read political commentary? Anybody? Since when have sports commentators spoken equally of all teams and players? Since when did they make sure that no team got it's feelings hurt, or never said anything negative (deserved or undeserved) about coaches/players/teams/fans? Since when did political commentators make sure to play nice with all the candidates and present all of their views as valid? It's a videogame talk show, and listening to it I can't tell the difference between it and any other talk show.
Sorry if it hurts your feelings that they don't give blowjobs to your system of choice, but that isn't there job. They are their to voice their views of the industry and Nintendo has given them an abundance of ammo to voice their feelings. Sorry if they aren't the right demographic. Maybe they should have a 1up show soccermom edition so you can get some positive feedback on the wii. But they are the core gamer, and they are mirroring the views of most core gamers right now. I have a wii and love it, but it's sucked ass this second half of the year, sorry. I don't feel offended when they say those things, I know where they are coming from. |
In politics, whenever they talk to an analyst they tend to be introduced with their bias being addressed like "Michael Regan, Conservative Commentator" ...
|
Notice it's called "Conservative Commentator" and not "bible thumping homophobe". Labeling them as "PS3 fanboys" or "360 Fanboys" is ludicris. They are the core gamer, and that much should be obvious to begin with seeing as how they are all men in their late twenties or thirties that have played videogames their entire life and have a talk show about it. You don't listen to Rush Limbaugh and complain that he isn't giving Democrats a fair shake.
And sports commentators aren't required to say which team is their favorite and be judged adveresly as unqualified to have a talk show for it.

Obviously, you missed his point. Someone like Rush makes it clear that Democrats are not going to get a fair shake before the show even starts. But when you link to a podcast, and think they are going to speak with fairness and integrity... well...
And in the realm you mention, there is plenty of open, "I love " that is acceptable. But none of the guys in that podcast would straight out mention they have an open bias against Wii. They try to make it seem like they are not biased by presenting, "facts" that give them a more, "neutral" and, "unbiased" viewpoint. The fact of the matter is, you cannot say that the system leading this console generation is not a video game system...
...well not while thinking the two losing are any more proclaimed in that area.
