Forums - Sales - Nintendo Let The Flood Gate Open This Week

Ya pretty much flooded the market with Wiis.... I was doing my traditional Cmas eve spend alot of money thing (like 6k lol), and anyways I was in TRU getting some toys and I checked out the VG section, I heard a customer ask if they had Wiis, and I felt bad for them, I thought some kid was gonna be disapointed this year, but when the Worker said yes, we do just get in line and we will get you one, I was shocked. So after he was done I talked to him, I asked why they were in stock... he said yesterday they recieved a massive shipment..... I asked him what massive meant, he said over 140. I went to BB (bought a nice Bravia!!!) and I asked them, they said they were out, but they had alot yesterday. The workers said he was not sure on the number.... but alot. I went to GS, and they said they did not have any (and the one worker joked "no one in America has them...." I said.. Well actually TRU has some right now.... I did some shopping in the Mall and about an hour later I look in GS again and the place was wacked, and I saw a sign that said Wii in Stock!!!!   (I picked up DQ4 and FF4 for the DS the first time I was in there... they were selling it for 29.99 so i could not resist.)  I did not enter the second time because the place was wall to wall with people and I well... ya.

Also checked Walmart for shit and giggles on the way home, they said they had some this morning... but all gone. No exact number as the worker came in at noon after the Wiis were sold.

Anyone else see anything like this.

Also, COD:waw Wii was back in stock everywhere (monday it was no where to be found)

I think they did this for many reasons. 1 people will buy one spur of the moment on Cmas eve more likely. 2 It makes sure real customers are getting them not scalpers.

I expect a smaller than usual drop in the number for this week for Wii (since it's sales numbers are supply driven)

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

It's Christmas or the holidays should I say of course they would open the gates up, this is where they make a huge amount of profit. Not new news to me...

Congrats Nintendo :)

Surely, you've seen the ONE MILLION on the front page.

it is new imo. The TRU worker said this was by far the largest shipment this holiday... And I think since the sales are so high this year... I take that as the largest shipment this TRU has ever recieved.

Had to pay an extra $30 for my Wii from a store that will overcharge for games and consoles that are hard to find. Sold out everywhere else.

Considering wiis are selling faster than they were being shipped, its not surprising nintendo have got their fingers out their arses and put more on the shelves. Good on them i say, they are kicking some serious boo-tay

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

It's not new bro..It was to be expected by Nintendo to increase their production at the Mario Factory if they wanted to sell those many Wii's.

It's amazing looking at the sales as the aftermath, that's what making you go "OMG NINTENDO LET THE FLOOD GATE OPEN!" I feel the same way and it's amazing seeing them do what they doing this week but its to be expected.

Well, when my mother is talking about the wii, you know the damn thing is popular. It will easily outsell the ps2 lifetime.

Last year the Supply was drying up. Look at the sales. It seems that N saved a major portion for the Final 4 days, which means we will not seem much of a dive in sales next week. that I think is very major.

Beside, would you prefer me to make a OMG 360 sales kill PS3.. it is Teh D00med thread?
