Forums - Microsoft - Can Microsoft reach the $199 price point with a slim model by next holiday?

I'd like to see the 360 reach a price point of $199 that is A)slimmer, B)Slot-loaded, C)built-in WIFI, D)80 gigs plus... Can Microsoft pull this off cost-wise by the holidays of 2009?  That would certainly carry them to the finish line of this gen without losing any ground and closing out until the next iteration on a very high note...

No. maybe a $299.00 version with all that, but I think $199.00 is pretty hard for all those features in only a year.

No. Not a X360 Slim for $299 by Holidays 2009, but perhaps $249 with all those features.

Forget the slim they just got the original to start working consistently. If PS3 does in fact go to $299 in 09 the a $150 elite would be Microsoft's best shot.

Was that a typo or are you trolling? Do you seriously mean that MS has to drop the X360 Elite that much to compete with Sony?

Naaaah , an 149$ arcade will be more than enough to bury a 299$ ps3 just like the 199$ arcade is burying the 399$ ps3 right now .

No....Another $100 price reduction on the Pro/Premium model is unlikely.

I anticipate a $50 drop on the Pro, and maybe a $30 drop on the Arcade in 2009 - along with the Slim revision.

I know you were saying the slim is imminent but do you think they might hold back now that the 360 has really taken off.
