They are trying to build an userbase in the west for MH, as they already stated. This game didn't come to the west on console (I am pretty sure the PS2 version was Japan only) and trying to build an userbase with the PSP in the west is... well, difficult... yeah, let's go with that.

If they want to make MH popular in the west they need to do it on a console(MH isn't really suited for DS, PSP software sale suck) and the Wii is simply the best candidate.

how is the Wii the best canidate for a game that is best played online?

Because they want to build a the game in the West WITHOUT losing the Japanese appeal. The PSP doesn't have western appeal, the HD consoles don't have Japanese appeal. The Wii has both.

Have a good look at yourself before you all anyone a troll ClaudeLv250.

Thanks for the advice, but I don't know how to all anyone. It sounds...unpleasant.

lol owned

You saying it makes it so?

But come on now, does anyone actually think Capcom will ignore the console which increased the MH popularity ten fold?

Remember to always check your spelling before entering a battle :P

I just missed out a c -_-

OT this announcement could also be very premature and simply a way for Capcom to get some spotlight back after the bomb Nintendo and SE dropped. Only time will tell but for now I see this as nothing but a test to see if this game will do the big numbers on consoles compared to handhelds.

BTW have a look at the numbers for the MH games on PSP, the latest had a few more features and got 2.5 million sales. The "this game is old and has been on 2 platforms before" arguement is nil.

This I agree with but Monster Hunter was on the PS2 before which I recall being pretty successful in EU and NA yet the numbers for the MH games were not good. I dont know how Nintendo will advertise this game and the DQ games to make them popular in those regions, shall be very interesting though.

But how much would a PSP cost? I am sure 2.5 million sales would be more then enough to make up for the costs in Japan alone..........

All you need to do is give it a FF7 style marketing budget.  Of course no one wants to spend that crazy.

How many times does Developers make the Japanese buy the same game over, over and over again?

It didn’t do vary well on PS2 which had a huge user base so it won’t do that good on Wii either and adding that it already has been out on two platforms makes it less successful on Wii. It is just a quick cash in that’s all not a test because the answer is obvious.

That is a bad method of testing. If people already bought the game on the PS2, PSP, or both why would they buy it on the Wii. I'm pretty sure the second even later port of a game won't sell as well as the first port of it. So how is this suppose to represent the sales of a NEW GAME releasing for the FIRST TIME?

The logic is very simple. You see when it inevitably does sell less (because thats the nature of porting) then he can use it as more "proof" of a PSP port that is not likely to happen. People like to ignore the fact that the other PS2 ports the Wii has gotten from capcom have been considered a success, and not sold more than the original games.

 @Dmeisterj
They are localizing MHF2G for profit. Same reason the KH: Chain of Memories port was localized by SE for the PS2 a year late and after they announced no more big series for the PS2. Series occasionally jump ship, and you don't always see the old platform continue to get supported.

I'm not sure which I prefer

The news of a great port coming to the Wii

or listening to the damage control going on from Sony fans

Specifically
PSrock - they are not forcing anyone, and they wouldn't make ports if there wasn't an audience for them. I do not own a PS2, and would potentially buy this game

@ RPG - the PSP port of MH3 has already been denied, it seems likely that this game is being ported as part of the advertising campaign for MH3 on the Wii

damage control?

Dude, before making acusations, know that  I hate Monster Hunter Games, I really could care less if the wii gets it, I was pointing out how Developers keeps feeding the  Japanese fans the same game so many times.
