Forums - Nintendo - Monster Hunter G ported to Wii... Famitsu Scan...

I'd think people who are excited about MH3 are excited about the main attraction--ie. online--over the single player.

Yes and you are correct, but is Nintendo's Wii service ideal for the Monster Hunter online portion? Do you think Capcom will incorpate a online portion in the American Wii version of MH3?

I hope so, cause they should of done the same with the PSP versions.

Clearly as you stated more people care about MH multiplayer-wise than they do single-player wise. That's the main attraction I have on this series. I did before and I do now. I lost interest because I would face nearly impossible bosses on my own. But knowing you have a few friends around you and your strategizing new ways to take down this monster. Is that sets Monster Hunter a unique gaming experience.

Monster Hunter on PSP fails in America just for the simple fact people don't gather around and take advantage of the ad-hoc feature. More people in Japan are more socializable than Americans are in this country.

In Japan you can see Japanese at a bus stop gaming with several of their friends. That's what makes the PSP and Monster Hunter in Japan so popular.

Who plays MH by themselves? For sure I'm buying the game mostly for online...and other people are too. Yeah, I'll play the singe player, but that's not the main attraction.

I did.

I played them single-player and loved it, and poured over 150 hours into it.

Yet you seem to be in the minority on that if we're to believe why the PSP version did better then the PS2 one.

I know that's why i didn't get a PS2 version.  Was told lots of monsters couldn't be beaten solo.

So it seemed pointless to buy.

It's harder, but not impossible.

Of course many games are easier with more than one person.

Yet the PSP version was a lot more popular, which would mean people are mostly buying it for online, no?

I'm not too sure.  Could be a multitude of reasons.  Portability, being the most likely.

But the PS2 monster hunters were online games too, therefore they should have sold more.

@ Kasz

Seeing as that it is an online enabled game in JP, and isn't in the west, I'd suspect that playing with someone else would be a major draw.

Hence the point... MH3 will be online enabled in the US as far as i know....

Hence... major draw?

Since 50% of the japanese fanbase ONLY play it online... and wouldn't play it singleplayer if it wasn't available.

The article also apparently shows why it's on the Wii.

Monster Hunter has a large female base... and is considered a casual game in japan.

So where are we going with this convo?

I don't understand what online being a major draw, which I conceded to, has to do with knowing what you're getting yourself into, and the game being the same?

Why pay 20 dollars... for a gimped version of something you have to pay 50 dollars for?

That's just adding 70 dollars on to the price if you like it.

Spending 20,(though i've seen it more expensive) so incase you hate it you save 30... is only a net of 10.

It seems rather pointless, a waste of time... and makes the final purchase less fresh.

Or, you could spend fifty bucks, and not like the game at all.

Yeah... i did that math up there you seemed to miss it somehow.

Lets say you buy MH for PS2 first.  One of four things could happen.

1) I like it!  I've spent 70 dollars for basically 1 game.  Costing myself 20 dollars

2) I don't like it.  I've saved myself 30 dollars. Saving myself 30 dollars.

3) It's ok... but the online will decide it.  I don't like it.  I've cost myself 20 dollars.

4) It's ok... but the online will decide it.  I like it.  I've cost myself 20 dollars.

So i'm spending 20 bucks... for a 1 in 4 chance to save myself 30?

Really?  This makes sense to you?

Whatever Kasz.

Don't buy the game. Have no clue what you're getting yourself into. I was simply trying to warn people that this is not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but if you would like to wait 18-24 months to get your hands on the game, and play it, why are you excited for the game in the first place?

Yeah... cause i'm sure i couldn't find any hype threads where you were excited for a game that was 18-24 months from coming out.

Though the same reason why people don't buy GT5:Prologue yet are still excited about GT5.

It's just a waste of money.

I clearly don't understand why you and Kazs are arguing in the first place.

I understood you and Soriku's argument, all Soriku was pointing out that he cares and believes that MH3 will sell on its online and that's where its best to play it at.

Kazs, idk..

I hope you do buy and enjoy MH3.

I'm not sure either.

I just made a statement about being excited about a series you've never played, and now there is an argument.  Whatever.  I'm done with it anyway.  >_>

It's simple.  Dmeister thinks everyone should buy the PS2 version... even if they don't care about the singleplayer... and even though... as he admits.. there is going to be little change in the core game.

So they can save themselves 30 bucks if they don't like it...

When it doesn't make any sense financially.

Since you're losing money in 3 of the 4 circumstances.

It's simple logic.  It doesn't make sense to buy the PS2 version first just to see if you'll like the Wii version... unless you think there is a good reason you won't like it.  (in which case... why even buy the PS2 version?)

I imagine i will.  I've been gaming since the atari and i can name the games i haven't had fun with on my fingers.

Mars Gothic Ressurection

Final Fantasy 7

Portal Runner (I think... was the name... i think it was a spinoff of those army man games? Some green woman who controlled like a freakin racecar)

Motorstorm

Pretty sure there is one or two more... but that's about it.
