@ kasz: Plenty of levels around without any kind of "trigger" and they are a joy to play. Point invalid :)

To actually get the most out of creation though you basically need triggers in an editor to do anything creative.

Sure someone can make an easy level that has some enjoyment... but when your talking to people who actually care about creating... and creating is where the fun lies, not playing...

that's where the enjoyment lies. Making new and complex ways to make levels and tackle problems.

That's just it though, I could make these things without the update.  This just makes the implementation easier.  If what you enjoy is figuring out problems then this update is unnecessary, if just pretties up and simplifies something that was possible before.  Though I'm sure there are things that can be done with this that haven't been though of.  It'll be interesting to see what people use it for.

@ kasz: so every creator is the same, every creator has the same "need", the same "view"? Wow, where's that club of like-minded people? You usually can't even find like-minded people like that in a cult...

Eh that's fine then.  If you can actually make this stuff yourself.

It's more a case of tools being missing just being annoying in a game that was sold on being about creation.

It's not really a need or a view.  It's about simple logic.  After a while you can only do so much without triggers in the wolrd of creation.

If you want to go beyond the first level of "lets slap stuff into place" triggers are going to be needed.

And those triggers are around.

It's not as if they withheld anything from the player, they did everything with what the player can do.

An interview on IGN today even confirmed that. It's just that they made something with those same tools and gave it to the people.

You are complaining because they added new triggers which you now cannot use if you do not buy them. That's where you're wrong. You can create those triggers yourself. It would just take time. They've now done that for you, and they're charging for it. Don't want to pay? Fine, no problem. You can go and make it yourself.

Go play the Dead Space level and the AMAZING intro, and you'll know exactly how triggers can be used to great effect pap.

PS3 Trophies

@ solid: CAN. Doesn't mean that one can't make excellent levels without them. And LBP has triggers in its base game anyway. Just because there's one additional trigger in an expansion pack, it's not as if they are trying to mess up your enjoyment of the game or the enjoyment of level creation.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

played them the paint gun its awesome

It looks like this caught on really well too. There's tens of thousands of people on the single-player leaderboards. I did really bad on one level and I was number 40k, so who knows how much more are below that.

LBP cross-licensed DLC prints money confirmed!

SqEnix just called and asked how they can weasel in on some of that action, I'm sure.
