I don't see the PS3 problem being IPs....

God of War
Killzone
MGS
LBP
Unchartered
Motorstorm
Resistance
Warhawk
Heavenly Sword
Socom
Gran Turismo
etc....

The problem is more about cost and the relative lack of difference between it and other consoles. Namely the 360. Only LBP is providing a real differentiator right now. And it doesn't help that Home (has lots of potential) but is currently nothing compared to Live Marketplace.

Really if you take an objective approach, it is pretty hard to choose the PS3 right. Sure blu-ray and wireless network are in the price, but if you have a wired network and don't want to spend $10 more per movie just because its hi-def, then PS3 is not high on the value list. Remove storage as a requirement and PS3 drops like a rock for someone who is only interested in core gaming and is cost conscious.

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

PS3 is having a price cut, just not yet.. They are waiting until the next big thing Microsoft will pull, and PS3 will have a price cut to counter attack it. Which is a good thing, PS3 is still selling very well for its price.

Agreed, Sony need to do 2 thing right now:
1- Create more Mainstream IP's, the IP's that Sony has are too "hardcore" and are mainly bought buy the current owners of PS3
2- They need to advertise their games, with the right advertisement games like LBP can do miracles.
