curious on how well this will sell in japan. I know GTA isn't huge over there, but its on the DS and it is kind of like a Yakuza game. Yea I know its chinese and not japanese.

but hell i don't dislike say James Bond because he is a british secret service and not american. So i assuem that they can feel like it is just japanese yakuza, instead of chinese mafia.

For a western game, GTA is popular in Japan.

ha one even sold more than 500k?  I woudln't say that is hugely popular.

i see there are a two that are somewaht close, but the rest are like 200k or lower.

It would take me a while to find the source (I'll do it if anybody wants), but Rockstar has stated that this game contains more lines of code than San Andreas

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

that doesn't mean its better.  I have had programming classes and made games and even other programs and whatever else.

And you can make something do the same thing in a ton of different ways (code wise).  A bad programer could take 100 lines to make a game of pong, and an amazing programer could make the EXACT same game with only 10 lines of code.

Never said hugely popular.

But a game that sell over 400k in Japan is popular. How many western developed games had sold over 400K in Japan ? ( Hint: not many ).

Looks awesome. This will probably be the first GTA I've cared about since 2.

Same, I only liked VC of the 4 that came out after 2.

That actually looks pretty fun.

Old news, besides it's 2d. GTA didn't go really successful til GTA3. I always found GTA 1 and 2 kinda boring. Anyways, it sounds like there will be plenty to do.
