Forums - General - yeah... I am not feeling the recession... at all.

In fact I think I am now better off.

I know I'm only an 18 year old student rather than a house owner with a mortgage, but still.

My wages have stayed the same. Prices haven't gone up on anything I buy. VAT has decreased by 2.5%. And petrol is about 20p cheaper per litre than it was a couple of months ago.

I hear news stories everyday about how big companies and banks are going into administration/bankrupt and how this is the end of the world, but it hasn't effected me at all.

How is the recession effecting you?

Im a student, so it doesnt effect me really, although my loans have to stretch further with prices higher. Bastards

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

My credit card is useless and I can't find work, things are looking bad.

I'm currently in an industry which sees pretty constant work regardless of the ecconomic climate, which was a negative when things were booming but is actually a pretty good thing right now ...

My rent went down $200 per month, I will (probably) see a modest $200 per month raise this year, and house prices in my city will (probably) fall 10% to 20% over the next 12 months which will enable me to buy a decent place. I was pretty defensive with my investments so I didn't lose any money when the market crashed, and I've made about 25% since I took my money out of my money market fund and started trading.

Overall I'm doing pretty well, but I am a little worried about unemployment rising to a level where it is difficult to find another job (I'm very bored of my current job) and the poor economy hurting the people around me.

@bouzane

That sucks man Hope you can find a job soon.

@happysqurriel

Nice trading Yeah the rising unemployment is worrying me. By the time I finish my degree the economy should be on the rise, hopefully.

I had a much better summer job last year than the year before, so my financial situation is substantially better. Also broke up with my girlfriend, which helps a bit. (every cloud has a silver lining, eh?)

Btw with all these Yansk around it feels so nice to see words like litre and petrol. ^^

The thing that worries me is getting a job after uni...im scared i will get one and then be made redundant almost immediately. Damn it!

I doubt your degree will be as useless as the film degree I'll be getting in May.  I'm totally fux0red.

Hasn't really affected me personally, as I'm a student. However, I do tend to go out less, to save money (maybe once every 2 weeks, instead of every Friday/Saturday).

My summer job is enough to pay for my tuition/books/entertainment, so I don't work during the school year (they only need me to work during summer, and I'm too lazy to find another job :P).
