Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS360 pads will die?

@chaospluto: You honestly think most people will buy a 400/500 dollar machine + pay the price of about 100 dollars for a controller like the sixsense, over a Wii which costs 250 dollars and comes with a game?

If only it had been included with the PS3 from launch, thing may have looked better for it, but now not only people who were interested in motion controls already own a Wii, but devs will be very reluctant in making a game for the ones owning the peripheral instead of making it for the majority of the owners who own a common control. And it's still available for PC, a far cheaper option for those who own a PC, they won't have to rake in 400 dollars.

I'm very surprised no one mention anything about Sixense. PS3's version of the Wii-Mote which is better on every level. Even with WM+ the Wii-Mote can't compare to Sixense.

Now, don't get me wrong I still love the Wii :P and Wii-Mote, because it's the only one that has the games to back it up at this time.

So really, PS3 has already joined the "Wii-Mote" market, you could say. Thought Sixense is still in production and isn't complete, plus I don't know when they would be releasing it to the public/consumers.

I also believe 360 is working or has one their using testing now, just keeping it on the low.

You can’t do better than 1:1 and WM+ is that already so I don’t know where you got the “better” from it is just as good but not better.

Actually, yes you can.  Sixense actually moves with you, not just your wrist.  Say, if you moved your entire body to the right, it will move with you.

Watch the videos and you might understand what I mean.

Of course, this could not be 100% intro on WM+, but I can't find one and from what he shows compared to Sixense, Sixense is much better.

  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

wii doens't have ps3 hardware to cost 400$, and if you seriously think the ps3 it's going to 400$ forever then your statement falls aparts quickly.

as now its expensive, but who knows what the ps3 will cost in a period of time, it not like wii game are using the motion sensor, many developers choose to turn into a waggle fest.

Seeing as Sony hasn't even mentioned any pricing on it, plus they haven't mentioned anything about game coverage.

At this point, it's not considered for the PS3.

At this point it's considered still in production (Beta if you will) and will most-likely not be released with the PS3 or if it is, won't be anytime soon.  Sony will make sure it has games to back it up before they try to sell it.  It would be completely pointless if not.

I also don't think they would try to sell it at the PS3's current price point.  Sony is smart, they know what their doing.  Their not going to release this in 2009 and expect everyone to jump on it, especially when the Wii is out selling them 3:1.

I'm sure Sony realizes they need a Price cut and even with a Price cut, this wouldn't sell so great at this point in time.  So really as I already stated, they won't be selling it anytime soon.

I really hope not. I think the Wii controls are BY FAR the worst controls of any current console out. And it's not even close..the only game I like the Wii controls for is Wii Sports. The controls destroyed Twilight Princess for me..absolutely destroyed it.

I've watched the video and not once did he move around with it in his hands, nor did he say anything about full body movement.

I'm not saying WM+ isn't fully reactive to which way you move it, like you would move a sword in real life.  It does that very well in fact.  What I'm saying is it does not move with the motion of your body, left to right and vice versa.

Plus, if you would watch Sixense videos, they show it does much more than waving a sword around and throwing balls or playing baseball.

haha I am too lazy to watch them I’ll just take your word for it ;)

@Roma,
Not actually true, the accelerometers track rapid relative motion of the controller such as in a sword fight and boxing but triangulation using the sensor bar also tracks position in 3 dimensional space although this isn't apparent in 1st person games where it is assumed the person is the reference point. The 3 dimensional accuaracy will be improved however in motion+.
