Forums - Microsoft - Halo 3 Pre orders pass 1 million mark, more than 1 month before release...

christ!
i find halo a little dull myself, though i can definately see its appeal, just seems too much like a pc game for me, and all i have game-wise for pc is GTA3 and The Sims. [though i do play the odd flash game]

maybe its because its like a pc game that halo is so popular, as the pc gamers on this forum cant seem to stand console shooters due to the control sticks, oh wait, that logic doesn't work because you still need control sticks.

""""""""well yeah but we are forgetting the massive advertising campaign they are putting in place... """"""""

Advertissement for Xbox360 or PS3 are so unfrequent

Time to Work !

I could have swore somebody told me that Halo 3 already had like 4 million preorders. This sounds like a more realistic number. In any case, that is still a lot of preorders.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Didn't God of War II have a million preorders and then sell only half that the first week? It barely passed a million total in the US.

Sony's original announcement of the 1 million preorders was this:

"Just less than two weeks away from its PlayStation 2 release, God of War II has received top media review scores and fan anticipation, which has already spurred more than one million retail orders for the title, which launches March 13.  Based on the original classic that garnered more than a dozen Game of the Year Awards after its release in March 2005, God of War II is delivering on the high quality gameplay that made the franchise a household name in the industry.".

Many websites ran with it saying preorders, but were they talking about the same kind of preorders we are(consumers preordering it) or what theirs for retailers ordering it?  The only reason I ask is because I don't remember any stores promoting preorders for it (they may have though).

lol not now sorry I wasn't clear.... the campaign is most likely to start around the end of the month and last until mid november.... something like that... I was basing my argument on the fact that I have seen the advertsing campain budget somewhere and it is the highest ever in the video game industry I think... closing to the one of some movies....

you already can see some Halo commercial from december in theatre right now.. I have seen one before bourne ultimatum... you have already some stuff planned with BK (so i'm guessing it will start short after the Simson one) they have also different operation planned with other brand..... don't worry even me I'm not in an hurry for that... we are going to eat Halo 3 from every hole of the body.... even the fan will saturate....

I have already seen some sign out for the Halo game fuel mountain dew stuff somewhere.... and the game is coming in more than a month.... you don't start a campaign on TV to much before it hits the shelves...

Probably retailer orders then, that happens in Japan a lot too, everyone always mixes up retailer preorders with consumer preorders. Assumedly this Halo 3 news is consumers. Maybe the 4 million number mentioned awhile back was retailer preorders? *shrug*

Just a rumor from gamestop for 4 million, but i would still think it would be more then a million, but still going to sell huge no matter what.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

it is going to sell huge... do you think it can beat Nintendogs? I am a Nintendo/Sony fanowner, but I really hope that Halo 3 beats Nintendogs, just to show that the hardcore/core-casual still have the power over the market.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Hope Halo 3 beats Halo 2s record.
