Forums - General - Shoe throwing

Apparently shoe throwing is a insult and part of some muslim cultures. But every since this happen to Bush, it seems that now its quickly becoming part of American Culture. First Bush, the NYMTA head (New York Metro Transit Authority) controls trains and buses in New York City, for those that don't know what new york city is, its where the new nintendo department is. And now this!!!

Yeah it is a huge insult in Arab culture. (not really Islamic origin)

Feet in general are a taboo in Arab culture, you should never put your feet in someone's face, on tables, etc.

Throwing your shoe means that to you, there is nothing beneath them. They are the lowest, piece of scum, shit you can think of.

I think its a pretty big insult in ANY culture.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I just do it when I'm mad.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)
Nintendo ID: Mako91                  3DS code: 4167-4543-6089

Perhaps this is a good thing? With more people doing it, it could become a joke instead of an insult

hehe That was pretty funny, and it's good to see Bush's reflexes work very well [although it sucks he didn't get hit T_T]. And as for "shoe throwing" becoming part of American culture or being part of any culture as someone said above me, I think you all are right. But still, it's pretty hilarious and worth a YouTube vid with bunches of hits. If I had to decide a top 10 list of favorite '08 moments, that reporter throwing his shoes at the President of these United States of America has to be up there :3

In China there was a shoe store that ran a special where you could get 10-50% off your purchase by throwing a shoe at the picture of George W. Bush.

Personally, I think it is of very bad taste, but supposedly so many people showed up for the sale that they had to bring in the police to keep the crowd under control.

I don't have a link, I only heard it on the radio.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I enjoy watching the Inside crew.

@nordlead: That really happened in China? Okay, the sale had a nice idea behind it, but there is a point where it becomes too much...
