I'm going to post my take on some very descriptive terminology oft used in this generation of gaming, perhaps more so than others, in order to show how fallible opinion is.

Graphics whores

You are NOT a "graphics whore" if you settle for a resolution of 720p, or an upscaled resolution of 720p.

You are NOT a "graphics whore" if you settle for anything less than the best polygon counts and textures AVAILABLE.

You are NOT a "graphics whore" if you settle for 30 frames per second for gaming speed. (cannot be discounted as play speed is perhaps more important than technical proficiency)

You CAN be described as a "graphics whore" if you spend £600 on video hardware just to appreciate how a game was made to look.

You CAN be described as a "graphics whore" if you spend £600 on video hardware just to improve the appearance of a game not recently released.

What has graphics whore got to do with being a gamer other than games use graphics.

Your 3 statements about graphics whores in fact could easily apply to some very horrid looking games. Resolution, polygons and frame-rate don't make a game look good.... those three things are side-issues that shouldn't come into the factor (especially for reviews) UNLESS there is something wrong with them that stops the game being as playable (ie horrid frame-rate)
