Forums - Gaming - Famitsu White Knight Chronicle score (29/40)

The gist of the review from gaf:

--lots of optional content
--big boss battles
--simplistic combat
--customizable combos
--is basically like every other Level 5 RPG.
--Online has chat issues and a reviewer "hopes it will be patched in the future"
-- 30 hours to complete

The only negative I see there is the "simplistic" combat, but Rogue Galaxy and Dark Cloud's combat was hardly complex and I really liked those games.

If it is "basically like every other Level 5 RPG", to me that's a good thing

so the reviewers said nothing bad except for online chat...which is hard to do while in combat....umm...it's not exactly pc...to even implement it should be a plus....i dont see any other jrpg have a co-op adventure that you can really talk to each other...patch for use of mic??...now that sounds like an easy fix....

so if it had no online mode...it might have scored better??...maybe...maybe not...who knows...but everything reviewers have said is positive review...i dont think we should really be worried too much about it...

Western reviewers are really going to hammer this game if Famitsu gave it a poor score.

wow 29/40 seems like a really low score, even if it is from famitsu... I really hope they fix up some of the issues or tweak the game up a bit. When did Sony say they wanted wkc to be released outside of Japan anyways? April 09?

REVIEWS TRANSLATED>>>>>

Here is another post of the translation I made off the Famitsu scans. For the late comers.

First guy: The White Knight Keren and the enemy Boss' powers are good. The offline play is well balanced and can be played without having to strain oneself, but there are several little annoying aspects of the game play. The online play where you can talk and adventure with friends in realtime could use an auto battle and auto run system. Its difficult to chat while running around or fighting.

score 7

Second guy: Being able to make your own combos, change your AC, and developing individual skills through battle is fun. The large enemies in the game are amazingly powerful. The online chat is difficult to do but they set up the online like a social networking site (SNS) and there seems to be the possibility for large network communication.

score 8

third guy: The fight scenes with the large monsters in the beautiful game world are powerfully intense. The main story and cut scenes are easy to follow. Because you can use mail or the journal as soon as you log online it should be easy to communicate with others. Its okay that the battle system is simple but it tends to be dull. Its good that weapon/armor compatibility and strengthening can be done easily.

score 7

fourth guy: The battle system as promised is uncomplicated with its several aspects so it is easy to get into. Combining the different skills is fun. But I would have liked for the menus and battle commands to be more polished. The online play depending on the version... (cant read last part, sorry)

score 7

Take my love, take my land..

My most wanted, anticipated game for on the PS3, where I literally bought a PS3 for.. . turns out to be the biggest disappointment. Can it go any worse with this stupid generation?!!!
