Forums - Gaming - EA preparing for hostile takeover of Ubisoft

So many conflicting emotions ...

Ubisoft is such an inconsistent publisher and has a few really good games and a lot of crappy games ...
EA is such a consistent publisher produce a ton of average games ...

Overal, in an ideal world EA and Ubisoft would be able to consistently produce great games ...
In an evil world both EA and Ubisoft would inconsistently produce a few average games and a ton of awful games ...

Now, now people. EA is still doing plenty of good games, like Spore and err... well they got Spore at least.

Damn I thought I'd check if they're really that bad, and the history section of their Wikipedia article consists mainly of them buying, mismanaging, and disbanding the developers of all my childhood favorites. *sniff*

The discussion page of the article is full of anonymous editors wanting to delete the criticism section, make is sound like EA published all the games it later bought the rights for etc. How very non-suspicious and respectable of them.

In a perfect world EA and Ubi wouldnt exist.

End of 2014 Hardware Predictions (03/03/14)

PlayStation 4: 12-15million

Xbox One: 7-10 million

Wii U: 8-9 million (Changed 01/04/2014 from 7-9 --> 8-9 million)

I like Ubisoft. Even in the dark days for Nintendo fans (GC), Ubisoft released several pretty good games on the GC while companies like Take Two, Rockstar, and Square seemed to avoid Nintendo like the plaque :|

EA is losing money on PS3/360 games and doesn't have many Wii games that far through development, Ubisoft has many games ready for the Wii, it makes perfect sense for them to invest more into Ubi at this time :)

EA has been buying into Ubisoft long before the Wii came so no this isn't cause of the Wii games of Ubisoft, this is eliminating a main competitor in the gaming market and acquiring lots of studios and resources.

ckmlb, EA is not trying to eliminate Ubisoft. That would be against the point of investing into the company. They are trying to strengthen themselves, while reaching out to other customers through other companies influence.

Just kiss the tip.

Wait, does EA really have the muscle to take Ubisoft? I know EA is big, but Ubisoft has got to be pretty close.

I really don't think they'd be able to pull it off.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Spore will be the best game ever from the looks of it. So even if that's all they had it would be enough.

Loads of specialist devs are better than one massive dev that makes all types of games i.e.Where do you go for JRPG's?Square-Enix, Where do you go for free roams?R*, Where do you go for racing sims?Polyphony, Where do you go for big corporate milking machine?EA and any dev that BIG. Why do people buy Madden/FIFA every year there isnt anything new added or very little but if you get PES instead of FIFA you can guarantee that each year will see more than just a kit and graphics update.

I agree with you but this doesn't change that EA has better games coming this year than Ubisoft, quality wise not just how big they are.

I will bet you that Army of Two will get better reviews than Haze and that Burnout Paradise will be a huge critical and commercial success.

Hellgate London is most likely going to be another very well reviewed game and that's EA too.

I am almost certain at this point that Spore will be ported to consoles since it's costing so much and taking so long to make, they will need console sales to make a profit.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

i hate EA, i haven't bought any of their games since FIFA 2005 because it included the Mexican league. the game was so bad, trying to rip off winning-eleven, i sold it 2 days after.

It'll be a very sad day if EA ever takes over Ubisoft.
