Forums - Gaming - If 2009 isnt huge for Sony, the war is over.

@Onyxmeth: They're in last place, they came from complete domination (just 2, 3 years ago?) and hopes were high earlier in the year. Now it looks as if the PS3 is destined for last place, once again...

I don't think PS3 fanboys are all that different from many Ninty or 360 ones. The difference is, they have a whole lot more to bitch about this time around. We aren't going to see crying from the Ninty camp when third party support is slowly getting stronger, and they're raping the sales charts like they are now...

If this was the N64 vs PS1 era, things would be much different, I imagine.

Before I lock this nonsense, let me just get my own point across, because what I say is important.

I've noticed this trend that Sony fans on this board are more prone to taking sales more personally than fans in the other two camps. It's almost as if there is this subsect of Sony fans that hinge on good sales performance, good news, and secured exclusives so they can enjoy the PS3 more. I've never seen a more whacked mindset out of gaming fans ever, and I'm thankful it only seems to affect them on the internet and not the mass audience of PS3 owners. You are the people that other fanboys use as the example when they lower their bars of expectations in regards to Sony fans. You give the wildest, most outlandish sales predictions and then cry like bitches when they aren't met. There isn't one of you out there as a PS3 owner that doesn't have enough games to keep you busy, so please shut up and enjoy your games.

 Its part and parcel of being a Sony fan. We are an optimistic bunch, but we take it like men when they are not met.

I've been here long enough to know that doesn't speak for a certain percentage of Sony fans. It's most of you sane ones that have to defend the crazy predictions the few make up for every perceived software and hardware failure Sony goes through. I call it the "LBP will be huge" syndrome.

Also you would die laughing if I showed you some of the epic Sony fan meltdowns that have happened here. I think we had two near suicides when FF XIII was announced for Xbox 360.

Well, thank God I haven't mixed with that certain percentage of Sony fans and yes, I would vomit because of a severe laughing fit If I witnessed attempted suicides over FF XIII.

As long as their probs don't get so severe to the point where they cause certain games to be cancelled, I'm fine with them being 3rd.

Maybe so. It must be the change in status because I don't see 360 owners all that disappointed they are in second place. When they were losing out to PS3 most of of this year, I didn't see them making doom and gloom threads about it. If 360 did one day sink to third, I don't think the fans on this board would care all that much where it would affect their enjoyment of the console.

The 360 fans probably didn't start gaming with the Xbox. Hell, many PS3 fanboys likely were born and raised with the PS (well, you get what I mean), so there's a much bigger attachment in that sense... I mean, I can sorta understand, I'm fond of Nintendo (and Sega a bit) in that way.

Seeing the company/brand associated with video gaming fall from the top may make one a bit bitchy...

Sounds too much like a security blanket to me. That mentality should have been dropped by the time they were 10.

@Onyxmeth

I agree that 360 fans aren't so quick to post doom and gloom threads. However C0rd's comparison of PS3 fans to N64 era Nintendo fans seems dead on.
