Forums - Gaming - If 2009 isnt huge for Sony, the war is over.

As someone who prefers playstation 3 over any system, you know its bad when i am going to throw in the towel. But why shouldnt I? Lets look at some of the bad for the PS3 this year

Lost FFXIII as an exclusive-huge deal, and i know that square said it was a business move, but that means nothing to me.

Somehow lost a 40 something week lead in worldwide sales. How do you go from being ahead this year by almost 2 million and then lose it right at the second of the year? Sony found a way

Home was not what i expected it to be, which sucks because they really hyped it up

Other exclusives like Tekken 6 and possibly MGS4 have been lost to the 360

The resistance, LBP, Valkyria Chronicles all tanked in sales despite being very much hyped and also being very good games

So this is what is in store for next year.....

Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, God of War III Gran turismo 5 possibly FFXIII and others that i dont remember now.

If Sony doesnt cut price or take the market somehow then the war will be over. And as much as i would want them to do it, there probably isnt going to be a price cut they still havent broken even yet.

Stop saying [next release or year] will be huge for Sony. It's ridiculous. If you keep your expectations so high than you're only going to be dissappointed when they aren't met. How about keeping moderate expectations of Sony and the PS3 for '09, and being met with another solid year for the PS3? The war may be over, but people still play the PS3 and enjoy it and Sony is still going to release games for it and continue with a PS4.

Everyday I'm hustlin'.

Wii and DS owner.

Unless you're a shareholder and this is affecting your portfolio, I question why most of your points bother you in the least.

Or did you just feel the need to be the attention whore and create a new topic, alongside the other 150 of them to let us all know your dissappointment in Sony? Please let me know so I can lock this thread and be done with it.

2009 will be slightly bigger than 2008 but....the war is verging on over already

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Oh heck, another one of these threads. PS3 doesn't need to have a huge year to "finish second in the war." It just needs to see out the economy, at least match X360's 2009 sales, reduce productions costs and keep giving its users great games.

Pay serious attention to the bolded part.

@ OP sell your PS3 and buy an XBox 360 and move on. It sounds like you have made up your mind.

 Everything in bold is false.

Just because "you throw the towel in "doesn't phase me.

They kept Final Fantasy exclusive in Japan, a major Stronghold for the game.

Sony didn't do anything, it was a price cut from MS.

LBP did not tank in sales, its a new IP, did good.

Didn't BengBenga make an official thread to stop increasing trend of disillusioned PS3 fans creating gloom and doom threads? It would be one thing if you didn't like the PS3 library but if you are enjoying the games it has to offer does it really matter? I mean if the PS3 was actually losing games, i.e. games getting canceled, I could see a reason for the trend.

The PS3 is an amazing console, and has some great games in it's library. The PS3 will most likely end up in 3rd place.....that's just how it looks like it is going to end. Nintendo and MS made some great decisions and trumped Sony's prior dominance....oh well, that doesn't discount the PS3.

Will that stop you from playing awesome games like LBP, R2, KZ2, MGS4, and a host of awesome third-party games, and exclusives coming soon.......NO! Will third place stop me from buying a PS3 (when the price is reasonable), no.......but hey, that's me.

Right now my 360 is awesomesauce and does everything I want it to and more, so I just don't see the reason to buy a PS3 right now, and neither do many consumers. That may change in 2009, but not enough to suddenly change the sales situation enough to take back what Nintendo and MS have accomplished this Gen. Just enjoy your great console, I know I am!
