PS3 called a 'flop' as Sony continues to take a battering in the press

The link mentions the hammering in the mainstream press, but I say it's too soon to declare anything. Sony could decide to drop out of hardware like Sega, or they could turn things around, like Nintendo. What do you think, and why?

these talks should be postponed until Sony drops the price.If they drop the price and don't see a noticeable increase in their hardware sales,then sony really needs to get worried for the PS3's future.but not now.

the number of people who are willing to drop around half a grand for a gaming system are limited.

oh yeah and let's not forget that PS3 will launch officially in many countries next year.

sony has disgraced its asian ancestors, we all know the japanese are the smartest-having created hondas, toyotas, supras to skylines, advance robots and ahead in fashion and ahead in techknology, welp i guess this time a pause in its gaming division, its advance war machine is near defeat, the samurai now faces retreat or all out kamakazi. all i can say now is for all the sony fanboys to sacrifice a small animal and see if it helps.

Xbox aimed for PS this generation, we all know they have compared themselves to PS, claiming they are beating them, etc... Against a huge corporation like Microsoft, any market they get into seriously means trouble for the rest. You know right when MS said they are making a game console, Sony and Nintendo pooped their pants. Nintendo knew they can't compete with MS head on, will just be stupid to go against the biggest company in the world.

Sony however went against MS Xbox, MS can do multiple things with their money. Rush production to get a console out early, buy games in some way, numerous price cuts anytime they want, implement new changes to match other console features, ads left and right.

Sony went against Microsoft and is losing. MS just didn't expect Nintendo, they have done changes rapidly with their money to copy Nintendo (not just copy but improved- 'avatars much more detailed) but its a little too late. I won't be surprised if next gen MS is 1st, they will have a console right off the bat that has copied Nintendo and Sony.

Yesterday, we discussed how The Washington Times launched a scathing attack upon Sony's mismanagement of the PlayStation 3. Apparently, that publication is not the only outlet to notice, as Sony is coming under fire from all angles right now. First of all, one analyst has declared that Sony ought to be "worried" about the PS3, claiming that some "very hard decisions" will need to be made in the New Year and stating that the value difference between the PS3 and Xbox 360 is now "out of whack." Home truths have come to light, and I'm not making a joke about Sony's worthless pet project.  Compared to financial writer Eric Krangel, however, the analyst reactions are a practical compliment. Calling the PlayStation 3 both a "sinking ship" and a "flop", Krangel believes that the black box o' Blu-ray is dying on store shelves. His words are even plastered on CNN's financial page -- probably something Sony could have done without. Oh, and apparently the PSP's performance "stinks" as well ... but we kind of knew that. Is it fair to call the PS3 a sinking ship? That might be a little too harsh. The PlayStation 3 is not licked yet, but with pundits and press battering it for mainstream audiences, not just the gamer press, this is terrible for the system's public image. While the Wii continues to entrap families worldwide and the Xbox 360 more or less holds its ground, the PS3 is earning the reputation of this generation's big failure. Whether strictly true or not, this is the message being delivered to hardcore and casual gamer alike.  As Krangel himself concludes: "Tell yourself the PS3 has superior graphics if it makes you feel better, but a $400 console with a mediocre game library simply cannot compete against an Xbox 360 priced at $200 in this economy." Harsh, but it's perhaps something Sony needs to learn.
