Except for getting messages (appearing daily) in your message box when a character "achieves" something (i.e. a gold medal for boxing in Wii Sports). My Wii message box is littered with these posts. But hey, I guess you are right... these can't be anything to do with achievements
I didn't know you could share those!

Did I mention sharing? I just replied to your "Wii does NOT have anything in any way similar to achievements" - which was slightly wrong...

Oh I'm sorry. The Way the Wii does acheivements, it sends you a little letter on your 'bulletin board' and you can go dig through the diffrent dates. It's really cool. It logs how many hours you played what and everything. Just so nanny can make sure your not playing (insert blood and guts game name here) too much.

This sounds like a cool concept from Sony. Its not just ripping off acheivements and Miis, its something else entirely which may better serve the purpose of social networking than either acheivements OR Miis.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

This is exactly like what Sony did with the whole sixaxis thing at E3 last year when Nintendo already announced their Wii-wand. What's next, a 2-screened PSP for extra porn viewing?
That's very ignorant of you. You really think that this concept by Sony was put together in 2 or 3 months to copy others? This is has been in development for years at least (2 to 3 years easy) The competition came out with their's and Sony is coming out with it's and if you can't see that Sony's makes the other two's look outdated then I feel sorry for you. If this rumour is true then this feature from Sony is truly an Industry changing event.

2 to 3 years easy? ahh..no. If Sony had these plans in motion 3 years ago they would have easily been ready for launch. Remember they still didn't announce anything. My guess is that they watched Microsoft's launch and saw the positive reaction of the achievments, saw the growing demand of things like myspace and proposed a plan considering the possibilities, perhaps early last year, and then decided to toss it on the back burner to see how the ps3 sold without it, and how successful Nintendo was with it's Miis, and channel concept. And then by january they were scurying to develop this concept. Don't forget since they haven't announced it yet it still might not be ready until winter or something, giving them more time to develop it. Don't forget this is business, smaller companies die if they don't take a chance and innovate, like Nintendo, while I appluad Nintendo's Wii I also see that they really had no choice but to be bold and daring. Otherwise they would of had a second rate X360 and only first parties to attract an audience. On the other hand companies like Sony go the big road, poor countless dollars into concepts and try to create a mainstream product that will recoop cost over years, you can't justify that to stock holders if no one else proved that business model works already.

I think combining the two into one is a great thing to do, i'm looking forward to it.

Its very good news ,as a future PS3 owner (in 21 days now ) I am definitely interested in it .I hope they do it allright and keep improving once launched .
