i think : tales of abyss 3d on the 3ds is the better version in my opinion.

i understand, i think the picture quality is alittle better on the 3ds. i would like too see other remakes happen on the 3ds in the tales series, but i doubt it will happen. i think namco should take the vita remakes and release them on the 3ds outside japan, i think they would do better, and with the 3ds's userbase it would generate more money for namco. it just seems namco , doesnt wana release anything tales of that is on a handheld outside japan anymore, abyss for the 3ds is the exception it seems.the consoles are the only venue that namco wants too pursue. it wont even let : xeed bring any of the vita tales of games over, when xeed themselves said they want too.

i think either sony or nintendo are the only way more tales of games on handhelds will come stateside i think.
i wana see a sequel to tales of vesperia at some point , in the near future.

@basilzero, if u know any japanese u can import the : ps3 version of tales of vesperia , it was only released in japan. because of agreement with microsoft on outside japan for the game.

With the release of Tales Of Xillia days away now.
i thought it would be good to ask which franchise people prefer out of Final Fantasy or Tales of being as this is the most popular rpg discussion thread. So.
Both are a long running successful franchises, both come out of Japan and both have alot of titles to show off, yet they play very different and have there own unique style.
so which do you prefer? has your opinion changed over time and gone from one to the other or have you always prefered one over the other?.

maybe if you want, explain why you prefer one over the other or why you changed over time from one to the other

I was until i found out the game is subsription based 

@stokedup, i still like the final fantasy series alot more, since the games always come over from japan. where as namco doesnt do that with the tales series, also they take way too long too bring them over as well.
i believe i will always prefer the final fantasy series to the tales series, because i have never had a game from the tales series get me addicited to like : ff8 and ff10 , ff11:online. until that day arrives, in my eyes and heart the tales series will always be the backup.
if namco would give the tales series more deeper stories, dealing with death,love,loss and all the adult themes that final fantasy or ( my favorite rpg ever : lost odyssey ) gives, i think the tales series would explode in sales. the tales series is more light hearted and evades the more mature themes, that is what is holding the series back.

To be honest, i think i agree with you. While i really do like the TALES OF franchise and i do actually prefer Tales of battle systems to Final Fantasys, The final fantasy franchise just pips it for me and for same reason you say. Although i do think the TALES OF series are getting more popular with every release now.

I love RPGs. I have never played any Tales games though, hopefully I can one day.
