Have you unlocked the Sage class? It's pretty amazing, easily surpassing both Mages and Priests usefulness. I'm going to use them for the post-game, for legacy bosses. 

Also, I've just done the Erdrick's Sword in alchemy. It's easily the best sword in the main quest, with 158 attack. My Warrior at LVL 42 has almost 500 attack because of it.

Completely, but i'm far from actually leaving DQIX.

With tons of DLC quests yet to come (last one released past friday was quest 131 and there's 184 quests in total), guest characters coming to the inn (make sure you tag 30 people to get a fully upgraded inn which gives you amazing alchemy ingredients each 120 minutes and extra items from the guest characters) and grotto hunting and % completion, i'm looking at more than 300 hours of gameplay.

There's a reason why there's an accolade for 1000 hours of gameplay
