A new breath of fire would be nice, but I dont think theyll make one. Im much dissapointed by jRPG this gen on Xbox and PS3. I think they are (game companies) fucusing too much on creating new formulas. Sometime it works, but more or different is not always better. The best example I can bring up is Suikoden 5, which was more traditional then suikoden 3 or suikoden 4, had a top view instead of 3D but was way better in my opinion.

Suikoden 3 is my favorite (hell favorite console game period) if you cannot tell :) But do not worry Suikoden, in its entirety, is my favorite console game series overall.
@Robo: A new Breath of Fire. I hope so. I miss fishing (yes, Im serious) of all things in BoF. That was without a doubt my favorite part of those games. After playing BoF on my PSP, I really do hope they release another such game (tho it is highly unlikely to happen)
There have been plenty of great RPGs this gen (new ones and remakes) but they are mostly on the handhelds. Do not get me wrong, I love my handhelds to death, but I agree that the home consoles have been JRPG shafted. Let alone the TERRIBLE media responses to JRPGs this gen. I swear the Media as a whole is stupidly JRPG biased. Hexzy Force, WKC and lately DQ IX have been just some of the victims of absolutely TERRIBLE media response.

I also liked Suikoden 3, its only the 4 that deceived me. But well, like I said I did prefer 5 a lot more. Did you played it?

Absolutely. Ive played through the entire series at least 3 times. Really tho, the gameplay from 5 was more streamlined than 3 and the story from Suikoden 2 trumps them all. Thing is, the trinity sight system was so superbly done that just that one part of the game takes it to the top for me. I was so very disappointed when I heard they were not reusing that system in Suikoden 4 and 5 ( all the other accuracy, crit, heavy dmg, etc that they took out for Suikoden 4)
Suikoden 4 was very different from the others. Character easily obtainable, 30 hours gameplay, very repetitive... In my opinion not only its the worst Suikoden of all 5 but its also one of the worst RPG on PS2. Trinity sight system was very cool, I did played Suikoden 3 2 times in the last years. But, I prefer RPG when you always play as the same character, thats why I prefer 5 and 2. And I agree with you, story of the second is awesome, but for me its followed very closely by 5 and then 3 :P.

As a Suikoden fan have you ever read the Suikoden 3 Manga? It is really good and Im hoping it will eventually move to an Animated series. Yea it probably wont happen but I can hope right ?
