favourite rpg generation snes is hard to beat but to me it's a bit like comics golden age vs silver age vs early eighties stuff ,the first age introduced many cool heroes and popularised comics and the silver age introduced many more heroes and acted as a renaissance then the eighties to me took it to a new level s but i have to say that most of the rpg's i think fondly about today and want continued come from the PS1 era to me that includes sega of the time

which generation for u had the most interesting and favorite jrpg's in your gaming life so far ?
i would say the playstation 2 era, as of right now. final fantasy 10,10-2,11,xenosaga,tales of games, shadow hearts, suikoden games, dragon quest 8,star ocean, grandia, magna carta, plus many more games i could mention as well. final fantasy 10 being my favorite of that era on the playstation 2.

This one's easy for me, SNES generation by a long shot.

Although the PS1 era had some good RPG's, like Xenogears, Legend of Dragoon, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Castlevania SOTN, Grandia, Shining Ark, Final Fantasy VII, Granstream Saga, Alundra, Kouldelka, with Parasite Eve leading the way; SNES generation to me was simply superior.

Lufia 2, Terranigma, Earthbound, Dragon Quest V, Final Fantasy VI, Illusion of Gaia, Story of Thor, Phantasy Star IV, Breath of Fire II, Bahamut Lagoon, Chrono Trigger, Shining Force II, E.V.O, SoulBlazer, Secret of Mana 2, Secret of Evermore, Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia...the list goes on

MUST play all those somehow (except for CT, FF6 & DQ4/5 which I have played)

Get a couple of good emulators for both SNES and Megadrive (Story of Thor, Phantasy Star IV and Shining Force II are for the SEGA console), like ZSNESW and Megasis and you're all set

My recommendation is that you start with either Lufia 2 or Terranigma (depending if you're more Turn Based RPG or Action RPG oriented). Both of them are my favourite SNES RPG's

I've played them at least 10 times

Edit - DQ IV is a NES Game

Cool so I can play em on emulators!

I'll ty both but shouldn't I play lufia 1 first? Also Dragon Quest VI....is it worth waiting for the remake to get here or should I play that on the emulator.

Well DQIX is a month away so maybe I might as well wait for the remake.

Although Lufia 1 came first, Lufia 2 actually is the prequel to the story and introduces correctly all the notions and concepts of the sinistrals, maxim and selen (you play as their descendent in Lufia 1), the Fortress of Doom and the Dual Blades.

You'll understand Lufia 1 much better if you play Lufia 2 first

As for DQ VI, you should wait for the remake to get here, since the unnoficial fan projects are very hard to find nowadays (since the site Kefka's Palace shut down in 2003), and the DEJAP translation is only at 70% or so.

Thanks I'll try out Lufia 2 then

Nope I've got big exams in 1 and a half weeks so all I'm doing is revision manly, but I'm not taking any free time & its really hampering my revision efficiency now, so it would be cool to play a bit of lufia on the side just to chillax for a while

On consoles after FF13 I played SO4 & Yakuza 3 BTW....liked SO4, loving Yakuza 3 (not finished yet)

Oh yeah I finished order of ecclesia on the DS a few months ago lol!

& M&L: bowser is an AWESOME GAME...that series is awesome, fun gameplay & humor

I had beaten Order of Ecclesia a few months ago too when I played it on my sister's DS, but since I've got mine, I decided to replay all Castlevanias

Since OoE got me hooked once more, I decided to give the Hard Mode Lvl.1 Cap a go. Since OoE is the hardest Adventure/RPG Castlevania ever released, it's been quite the challenge.

I'm really loving M&L: Bowser's Inside Story. I've been a fan of the M&L games since Superstar Saga on the GBA, but Partners in Time was a bit of a letdown, since it was pretty bland in comparison to Superstar Saga (it had Yoob though ), so when I started playing Bowser's Inside Story, I was blown away at how awesome it is

And then I got to the first giant Bowser's fight... I was like :-O:-O:-O for some minutes. Never thought the DS could do something so awesome as that fight

Partners in time was my first one & I LOVED it...(I haven't played the GBA ones)

And YES the big bowser fight was phenomenol, they have pushed the DS so far with that game!

And don't you just LOVE Bowser as a character in Inside Story? ITs so awesome.....I like Bowser way more than mario & so on now!

They turned one of my "villains", a big turtle monster into a dude with a great funny personality!

BTW have you tried Shin Megami Tensei devil survivor on the DS yet? Its a very very good game with a fantastic story!

Yeah, Bowser's characterization is superb on this game, pretty much on par with the characterization they gave him on Super Mario RPG

Plus, to me, they also re-created one of the best villains in the entire Mario Universe, Fawful. I HAVE CHORTLES!!!!

I have it but I haven't tried it yet. It's Strategy Based RPG right?

Yes Fawful is AWESOME TOO!

Yeah SMT Devil Survivor is a SRPG but it does have addictive fusion elements (demon fusion) & other things, but for me the big draw is the story, its a very good story, I'm sure you'd enjoy it.
