Forums - Sales Discussion - Disgaea 3 outsells ToV in America

A SRPG outsold a JRPG? Just LOL, and the 360 install base in double in NA comapred to PS3.

Disgaea 3 had a bump in sales when holiday season started. Valkyria Chronicles (by the looks of it = constant decrease) and Tales of Vesperia did not.

However, not to upset anyone but if you want to assume that PS3 is a jRPG console using that argument then go take a look at IU and LO sales.

ps3 should be a jRPG console, but it isnt one.

and I'm sick of people using a flawed comparison to say that the 360 is definitely better. We'll see after SO4 and WKC get their fair shake, as well as FFXIII on both, but until then I will continue to argue against people who refuse to recognize the obvious difference in common sales of traditional Japanese RPG's and Japanese Strategy RPG's and use it for a flawed argument.

Quoted for truth! I have every respect and love for the already released and upcoming JRPG title on the 360, but the skewed logic behind those arguing in favour of the 360 just doesn't compute. WKC as the first big budget proper JRPG with hype and proper advertising will be the proof that both side need to put this argument to rest.

And on topic: grats to Disgaea, i guess the cult following it gained and the game's humour won out in the end. Of course those numbers could also be horribly wrong since VGC numbers aren't the most definite on title with such low sales.

tales of symphonia dawn of the new world will pass um both

It already did, and it's been out for half the time.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World - 120k

This bodes very well for the Wii. I hope the new Wii Tales (which they better bring over) sells even more. This is a franchise I really want to be successful in the west, it just feels like Namco botches its chances from time to time.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

Like not advertising their game and not getting the game into retailers.

The hell is this blasphemy? Valkyria Chronicles deserves that spot!

Tales games are made by Square?

Anyway, awesome for Disgaea.  It's a 500 hour damn game, lol.

Next up, Valkyria Chronicles roaring past ToV.  Some day.

Fairly surprising. Tales of Vesperia had at least some buzz around it.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S.
