Forums - General - golden globe awards nominees

http://www.boxofficeguru.com/ggnods2009.htm

I'm assuming gamers like to watch movies as well.  I love movies.

The list sucks though.

i don't like the movies for best picture drama - couple of movies are not even out yet.

Mama Mia?  give me a breat.

Sean Penn?  I don't know why Hollywood love this guy.

james Franco was not very good either.

I guess we didn't have very good movies this year.

only thing i like is Wall-e for Best Song.  I hope Peter Gabriel wins.

Have you ever looked at an awards nominations list before? They all come out about the time when many of the movies nominated on there have yet to come out in theaters (Think - No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Atonement).

I think there are a lot of strong movies on the list, and what are you expecting from the Golden Globes? They are the second (or third, or fourth) string in terms of what movie awards actually matter. I think your expectations are completely unreasonable. There were plenty of mediocre movies on last years nominee list.

And don't say a damn thing that is bad about Sean Penn. Milk looks like it is one of the best movies of the year by a mile.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Agreed on Golden globe.  Don't usually like their list either.

sorry about Sean Penn.  He used to be such a natural actor, but not anymore.  he seems to be pushing it too much.

Kinda llike Angelina jolie in "Changeling".  I liked the movie but I didn't like Angelina.  I loved her in "Wanted"

I agree that Sean Penn can be hit or miss, but Milk nonetheless looks phenomenal. And all across the board he has got phenomenal praises. Looks like he definitely got it right.

I think they pushed back the movie's release though...I probably won't get to see it until Christmas time.

I'm definitely looking forward to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button too.

Lmao mama mia.

Would you guys have been more happy if they would have nominated Step Brothers? Frankly I am glad that the Golden Globes aren't as pretentious and stuffed-shirt in terms of their selections. We already get enough of that with the other groups that give out awards out there (like the Academy and the LA Critics).
