There's a reason why none of these games get reviewed.

Because nobody cares about them.

Some of these games are reviewed. Shockingly, they receive poor reviews.

I don't doubt the game's quality, I just thought the Mr. Potato Head on the cover was hilarious.

I would only play a game like this if it was admittedly cheesey similar to the BK games released for the Xbox. These are serious attempts at making a game...which makes it even more depressing.
I think the issue here is that the "uninformed" or "casual" players might not be able to pick up really good Wii games, because crappy shovelware would get their attention first.
I don't think most of these people even read game reviews, or buy their games online. So how stores will arrange the presentation of their goods *might* affect the order of priority of which games are bought first.
On the issue whether the PS2 had shovelware, yes it did. But it was mostly later of it's life, when the PS2 was already targeting the "casuals".
The Wii, on the other hand, targeted the casuals first, hence so many shovelware on just its second holiday season. It's the side effect of the (inverted?) pyramid strategy.
It's very sad, but the amount of shovelware for the Wii is what's preventing better games to get released...
Look, retailers buy any games, but most of them are shovelware and they need to put them on the main shelves because they know core gamers won't buy them. It's for the misinformed consumer, who enters a store and buys the first thing he sees. My dad actually did this, but there's no way you can get mad with him, just bad luck. But the thing is as d2lewis said, there's a 0% chance that a misinformed gamer will pick a good game, because they are not on the shelves!
I believe that this big retailers should do some research before buying massive amounts of copies of any given game. They should check the genre, popularity and price before ordering so many.
After all they end up on the bargain bins and people pick them up over full priced good games. :(
