Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo to help advertise DQ in west?

you... It would be really interesting to go back to 1996 or 98 or whenever pokemon was first coming this way, and see if people thought it would fly... I mean. Pokemon is VERY japanese if you think about it.. Little pet monster you keep in balls in your back pack that talk to you... ya...

I predicted.. yesterday that DQ10 would be the biggest DQ in the West.... and that is before I read this.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

They will not westernize DQ to sell it in the west (like they did with the RE series, or in FF)

It seems the main reason they want to push DQ on the west is to expand japanese gaming culture.

Something tells me this game is further along, than we think...

I really dont know why will Nintendo pay for the advertisement of a third party game

Obvious isn't it?

 - secure relations with SquareEnix

 - make money off extra hardware sales

 - make money from software licensing

Now that Ninty has got this far - they want to really "hammer" home the advantage that the Wii/DS have given them.

It happens all the time, ala MGS4 + Sony ads.

@Bigjon I think he is mostly talking about IX, not X. So I don't think there is any reason to believe the game is farther along than what is expected. I do think there is a good chance it has already started development though. As for IX, I hope the game is far along, it is releasing in a few months in Japan.

It's the fallacy Nintendo doesn't support third parties, based on Nintendo not supporting niche titles, while ignoring that Sony and Microsoft don't do big support for those either.

I'm not actually being argumentative

Caustic overzealousness is how I express enthusiasm for an idea, and it is generally good-natured agreement when I end an "argument" that doesn't adress the other person with "I rest my case, sir".
