 - secure relations with SquareEnix

 - make money off extra hardware sales

 - make money from software licensing

Now that Ninty has got this far - they want to really "hammer" home the advantage that the Wii/DS have given them.

It happens all the time, ala MGS4 + Sony ads.

 

It's the fallacy Nintendo doesn't support third parties, based on Nintendo not supporting niche titles, while ignoring that Sony and Microsoft don't do big support for those either.
