That's funny, on my 52" Hitachi (480i/480p/540p/720p/1080i) TV I watch all my movies in either 720p or 1080i.  Whichever I feel like setting the PS3 at.

 They can't wiid?  Just a guess.

 Hey, I resent that.  I am a Wii Fanboy, and I left a pretty good review (I own a PS3, also).

@DonWii:  The downscaling of BR Movies was fixed in patch 1.8.  Just like the Wii fan being off during stand-by was fixed in firmware 3.0 last night.  I love how the systems I bought months ago get better and better.  Too bad you can't fix overall crappiness with a patch (this is directed at bad games, hardware, or any thing really.  Not to be taken as any one item.)

The strangest thing for me is that when I watch a BD on my PS3 at 1080i on my 720p LCD it looks better than when its playing at 720p. An LCD is a fixed pixel display so why would an upscaled image appear to have more detail then a native scaled image?

On Topic:  I have had my PS3 since early this year and to me it only keeps getting better.  The games that have been announced are in-line with what I'm interested in playing.  The graphics appear to be starting (very slowly) to exceed those of the 360 (which I also own) and the firmware updates seem to add more value to the console all the time.  I just recently realized I could do media sharing (ala 360) from my PC to the PS3.   IMHO, its the best bet for an HD style console.  If you don't have a 360 pick up a PS3!  If you do.... pick up a PS3 ;) 

Because I have a LCD TV HD Ready (a Sony Bravia) and is only 26" I should just stick with my WII is what you're generally applying? WII GFX can look like crap on a smaller LCD TV as well.

Now we're asking questions I've got at first one of my own. My PS2 is dead, a Japanese version and since I'm planning to buy a PS3 from Japan anyway in the nearby future... I'd like to hear from you guys how are the upscale upgrades?

 That's a good deal assuming there aren't any back-end charges on the card, membership fees, minimum time to pay or hit usary interest rates, etc.

Well, I'll chime in here. I've had a 360 for more then a year and bought my PS3 last month after the price drop. The thing is, I haven't bought any games for the PS3 yet, but I spend more time on my PS3 then my 360. The demos are lots of fun so far, and I did get caught up with some of the PSN store titles to keep me entertained. I'm waiting for warhawk to come out as the first game I buy for the PS3.

Do I wish I would have waited? No way. I'm happy I bought it when I did. And to think that the games that I want aren't even out yet and it's still consuming quite a bit of my gaming time. The Blu-Ray movie deal is great, and is just an incentive to buy it now. Also with having the backwards compatibility, it's another bonus as you can go back to your PS2 games you may not have finished and use that to bide your time. I'd rather get the 60 now, instead of only being able to find the bundle pack for $600 and lose the hardware emulation.

There is more then enough reason to go ahead and jump on the PS3 train now as the games you will want will be coming out in the near future. And hey, if you have the money now, you may as well take advantage of it as the games you want will be coming out sooner or later. It's a decision that I don't think you will regret one bit.

I'm really enjoying my PS3. The firmware updates continue to improve on the experience as they enhance the things that the PS3 can do.

I'm just waiting on the games to further enhance the system which should be starting to come out this month. I really loved the Warhawk beta and I'll probably pick it up if the internet connection at the apartment I'm moving into next week is good enough.

Nice find. But I guess you missed two posts below me were akuma already pointed that out. Did you only read three posts before deciding to chime in?
