In my opinion
1.) Mii's
2.) Home Avatars
3.) NXE Avatars
Mii's are very free to creativity. Avatars (Home) actually look nice. Avatars (NXE) are frighteningly limited and kinda creepy.
Pixel Art can be fun.

The Mii's and the NXE to a degree are great because they represent only an abstract representation whereas Home is trying to hard to look exactly like you.
The closer you're trying to get to real people appearance, the harder you'll fail. See uncanny valley.

I like them all. I actually like the look of the 360 Avatars, to that of the Wiis, but you can make some pretty cool things with the Wii ones. PS3 has a different purpose, and focuses more on realism. Each one of them is pretty good for different things.
Mii's seem to be better for faces in general since you can move features around and change the size, but obviously Avatars have more clothing/color options. Oddly enough there's no body size option though from what I've heard, is that true?

That's wrong. You can make tiny anorexic Avatars (no example here), and fat ones too (like twesterm's, if you need an example to see how it looks like). No offense intended. o.O

Lmao, great read, a few of them were better on 360 but Mii's won but then there was a few 360 wins that Mii's could have looked A LOT better as for example my Spock looks spot on and on par with avatars. But the Mii's have more creativity built in to the point you can make crazy things like a penis Mii or Pac-man while 360 is very limited in comparison so obviously mii's are going to win.
