Forums - PC Discussion - Help me to torrent a game!

OK Im gonna clear this up straight away so people don't start shouting at me lol. Basically when my Macbook's hard drive decided to self-destruct bringing the 90% of unbacked up data with it I lost my Unreal Tournament 2004 file. You would think this would be the least worrying thing as I could simply re-install it... right?... wrong! : ( the disc wont register, I have tried disc cleaners but they did nothing, however the disc will register in other computers and my repaired Macbook will play other discs.

So although I am against torrenting games I feel I have the right as I already own the game and have the cd key etc etc. I found a torrent for it, I got it and did everything I needed to but it "unexpectedly quits" whenever I pass the point with the CD key.

Any ideas? should I try a new torrent, work on the current one, or just give up? : (

did you check on the torrent beforehand?

most of the times on the site you've downloaded from, there is a section with comments. They usually tell you if everything is alright and such. If that is the fact here, then you are doing something wrong. If it's not, try an other torrent.

that's my advice ^^

btw, the oldest UT rocks all the others

Could be something wrong with the torrent, try another one. Good choice on UT2004, best UT so far.

^^ Iv been addicted to that game horribly, and when you get to know the online community and have your own clan it just gets worse lol

UT2004 is my favorite mutliplayer shooter of all time. It spits right in the face of those CS corner campers and allows pure individual skill to shine through at its brightest. Have you tried any of the mods? Some are absolutely astounding, Alien Swarm has to be one of the best co-op games I'veever player, period. Think AVP2 but from top down perspective with up to 3 friends helping you out. We should get some games in, I haven't played in a while but I was still good enough to grab first and a $150 phillips DVD recorder at our college's tourney.

99% of the time Im playing Assault on Jolt or some of the other more popular ones. So I never rly play many major mods

Ha! Stuff I've just learnt for a job interview is becoming useful.

There is a free data recovery program here
http://www.macintosh-data-recovery.com/

Which may help you get your data back

It doesn't matter that you already owned the game, posting of torrents to games is not allowed. Go look somewhere that isn't here.

^^ That looks interesting, and if that were to work I may have to slam my head on a table cos I just rewrote over 10'000 words of essays from scratch! 0_0 apart from that my music was backed up (ipod) and my animations were backed up the week before it happened which would hae been my university application down the drain D:

My hD has been replaced now (but I did run some software through it but nothing was recoverable) thanks for the help though.
