Forums - Sony - Killzone = Halokiller ?

If PS3 fans think KillZone 2 will be a halo killer, they will be extremely disappointed. It will be lucky to sell a million copies worldwide, which would not be enough to recoup development and promotion costs.

how much were the development and promotion costs again?

Halo died before it got started by games like Half-Life, Quake, and Unreal Tournament. Halo will never hold a candle compared to a game like Half-Life.

Ah Halflife the most overrated FPS of them all.

Killzone's biggest problem is being a sequel to a game no one carred about, why Sony didn't invest in some new exciting IP or at least rename it and use proper enemies rather than the Helgiest which look like Nazi's from some 50s comic book is beyond me.

Killzone 2 isnt meant to make up dev costs, it is a game that is being used as a poster child for the PS3's abilities.

I know the threads not someone saying Killzone will be the Halo Killer (as the title implies), but calling Killzone 2 the Halo Killer will truly make it Failzone 2.

The only thing that can destroy Halo is Halo itself (with a truly terrible game), by calling itself the Halo Killer, a game must play exactly like Halo but better (Story, Graphics, Weapons etc), which is not what Killzone 2 is trying to do (1st person cover system, whilst I expect it to fail hard, is different)

Killzone = Halokiller? Halokiller ?

 Who bumped a four year old thread?

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

I PRAY that you are being sarcastic.

I am not kidding...no, I said it in jest.

a 10 year old game that sells over a million a year.. a game that still has great gameplay and has launched a franchise that also has games that has sold over 5 million+ each. It has revolutionized FPS gameplay. Halo only wishes it did something like this. Frankly Unreal Championship 2 on the Xbox revolutionized FPS/TPS gameplay at the sametime on consoles. Halo is jsut as average as the first Killzone but with shinier graphics it was a launch title.

Killzone was a fun game for its averageness like Halo, they just are average.

Meh. You are entitled to your opinion. I disagree, completely though.
If Halo wanted to be like Half-Life, it would be obviously visible. Judging from the action-basis, different setting feel... I think not. Lol, It's not like the Halo series is also multi-million seller... Impressive for a so called average title.
As far as I'm concerned, Halo earned its place. If it didn't have sway, for what reason was the term Halo-killer coined for?

i didnt compare Halo and Half-Life past sales and being called overrated. I'd have to compare Halo's gameplay to Unreal. Unreal and Halo are very similar.
