Wow, that's pretty damn impressive. As with all games, average probably will drop over time. Will stay in the mid 90's though

Is this game coming to Wii? or is that something else I'm thinking of?

Didn't hear anything about it...

I assume the next one does, though.

I'd be very suprised if it does. You don't see Wii mentioned as rpg gamer console of choice.

Is there even 1 turn based rpg on Wii now ?

I'm not big on Wii JRPG's... but what's en-route to the Wii, especially Fragile and Arc Rise Fantasia should encourage gamers to take it as their RPG system of choice.. I'm already thinking of doing so myself... PS3 should cover every other base.

Great, probably well deserved. MegaTen is awesome! Time to dust off the ol' PS2!

If only the PS3 was Backwards Compatible they'd have a great title to promote.

Agreed. Some crazy people who bought 60gb should be happy tho.

I'm one of those crazies lol. Looking back, I'm glad I jumped in early

I would say there's more of a chance of seeing Persona 5 on the 360 than the Wii.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

Great job P4! Overall rpg of the year and one of the few non FF rpgs to ever get these types of scores.

Atlus seems to like the Wii. Plus, by keeping the series on PS2 this long they've made it pretty clear that they're not fans of HD development costs...

Everyone talks about how good this series is, but here in PAL country, we just got our first Persona, Persona 3, not 2 months ago, so I have no idea. It's odd that they have waited so long to bring, what seems to have been a very good series right from the PSX days, over to the PAL countries.

Honestly, I won't be surprised if persona 5 comes to ps2 or even ps3 if it comes late enough when the nex-gen is looming because these type of games are the hardest of the hardcore. They don't get any promotion whatsoever and only their hardcore followers know they exist. In such, userbase doesn't affect sales as much as wherethe fanbase is because they don't really have the hype and media talk driving their sales.

Disgaea 3 is a good example. It's on par with the previous iterations even though it was released on almost a 10X smaller userbase. Big games benefit from userbase much more that hardcore niche titles. Fire emblem for the wii could be another example. I remember I didn't even know it was released yet for wii till someone corrected me. Nintendo sure doesn't advertise it like wii fit.

That said, how many know that Ar Tonelico 2 is coming to the States Jan 30, 2009? I bet not many knew or even care.

Atlus also has a deal with Microsoft to put their games on the 360, and I would say MS wants more than two very poor strategy rpgs out of it. Also, when they see these review scores, they will decide that like FFXIII and SO4 P5 is a game they should add to their jrpg collection and with a review score of 97 for the game -- whipping any jrpg in their lineup -- they'll be even more inclined to pay the price to get P5.

Also, Nintendo doesn't like to have such mature games on their systems and in a way the gameplay in the Persona games competes with that of their first party Pokemon titles, so they would be less inclined to want to release such a third party game on the Wii.

Finally, it could be that Atlus loves the Playstation brand explaining why they've had two top Persona games on the PS2 so late in its lifetime, and that they've just been waiting for the right time to announce P5 for the PS3. I would expect to see P5 on the PS3 before I would expect to see it on the Wii as well as Atlus would want to release the best possible version of the series on a next gen console instead of having a next gen game on a console that is decidedly last gen.

If saving money on development costs of the game is a big enough factor for them in the development of the next one as you say, then they could do pretty much the same thing by having P5 on the PS2 once again and save a few dollars in development costs from what they would have spent to make a Wii version.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

Atlus just loves to make great RPGs. They have taken the throne in my RPG kingdom years ago.

I did. Play magazine ran an article about new jrpgs coming to the US PS2 a couple of issues ago. I only glanced at the article in the bookstore, but it seems like there are also a couple more promising jrpgs headed to the US PS2 in the next few months as well.
