SEGA has launched the official US site for MadWorld. In addition to some screenshots and other goodies, a few new details about the game have been confirmed, including multiplayer. The multiplayer offering has been described as “Blood Bath Challenges.” Sounds fun, doesn’t it?

 “Take control and complete in a variety of ultra-violent ‘Blood Bath Challenges’ which can be played offline multiplayer with your friends or enemies.”

 A bit of the plot has additionally been revealed, and it looks as though Varrigan City has been taken over by a virus.

“Driven into quarantine and chaos by the outbreak of a deadly virus, ‘survival of the fittest’ takes on a whole new meaning as trapped citizens are pitted against each other in the gruesome sports show, ‘Death Watch’.”

That'd be pretty cool, I'm gonna really enjoy playing with my little brother then.

If it is not co-op for story mode, then it sounds like a gimmick not worthy of my praise.

Still plan on buying the game, however.

offline multiplayer =/= splitscreen multiplayer

Split Screen is the best type of multiplayer, my interest in this game has been piqued.

Yay, at least one game gets it right...

Pretty important distinction actually.

I have trouble visualizing what split screen multiplayer would look like in a game like this. Turn based seems more likely.

I don't know what the MP will be like but it since it can't be all I'm gonna mention all at the same time, I hope they add something along thse lines as well:

2 people run through the same stage at the same time and they compete for those gruesome "style" points,

Co-op beating the grab out of hordes of baddies

Maybe a death match mode where 2 people go after each other by being offered specific objects to kill the other with.

Of course there are going to be competitive Man Darts minigames.
