Forums - Sales Discussion - Walmart to offer tens of thousands of Wiis on Monday

^ seriously?? There's not much unique about party games.

You'll need to justify this blanket, incorrect statement.

EssosDeeos said:

Shouldn't necessarily look at lifetime figures but rather the current state of play. There's some serious rubbish around at the moment.

As opposed to the other systems, which are full of sparkly, happy rainbows?

EssosDeeos said:

Point is, as much as I like brawl, there should be something else by now that I should play instead

Yes, there should be, and there is. The fact that you haven't played any of them is deeply shameful. Hang your head in shame! Now! I said shame!

Okay... so its the X360 Arcade that is hard to find around here (Seattle area) since Black Friday. Wii supply seems to be exceeding demand decently this year. They are stocked pretty high in just about every store (there are *mountains* of them). There are huge piles of X360 Pros as well... the Arcades seem to ZOOM out the door, and the Pros are just left there. PS3s seem as usual. Not hard to find if you look in a couple stores tops. Never a big stockpile, either (unlike the X360 Pros and Wiis).

I don't think we're going to see another super week (like BF) for the Wii this year.. or for any console.

@ nord - it is incomplete, I have about 20 wii games currently. Maybe it's me, I loved the GC and played it for hours on end but just haven't had the same experience with the wii.

Since you seem to be in the only place in America that's like that, buy some and eBay 'em dude. Easy money!

noname - you're funny and I am obviously misinformed. Please tell me what is unique about loads of party games (an oxymoron itself!)?

After you, mate. The burden of proof is on the claimant...

thanks for the offer - trouble is, if I list it all, i'll break the p, a, r, t, and y keys on my keyboard.

thats ok, just ignore SMG Brawl and Zelda...

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Witty. And now I'm done with you.

On topic: I'm a bit surprised that it took so long to go through all the stock. And why is it just online? I would think it'd be better for Walmart to lure people into the stores, so as to maximize impulse shopping.

Yes killer apps - you get MKWii, Wii Sports and Wiifit but they are old. My concern is for the future - I see great h/w sales this Xmas but a diminishing attach rate and an increase in shovelware - have you looked at the wii release list for this season, tell me what's a killer app and not crap?

lol, I manage all the release dates for US and Europe, so I know exactly what is coming when. You can expect no good Wii games between now and mid january at best, since typically no good games are released in December or early January, but both X360 and PS3 will have the same fate.

Also, Nintendo AND third parties (on nintendo consoles) have been playing the "lets anounce games last minute" game. Square Enix anounced their new DS/Wii FF game ~4 months ahead of release. For all we know, it could be release 1 month later in the US.

As for the last 3 months of releases I qualify all these games as good and worth your money. Notice how the Wii doesn't just cater to the Hardcorz and notice that there is 1 shooter amonst tons of other games in all sorts of genres.

  • Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
  • Rock Band 2 (not out yet)
  • Guitar Hero: World Tour
  • Mushroom Men (so far reviews are decent to good, but since I haven't played it I'll let you debate this one)
  • Sonic Unleashed
  • Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV Party
  • Castlevania Judgment
  • Skate it
  • Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip
  • Animal Crossing: City Folk
  • Call of Duty: World at War
  • WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2009
  • MySims Kingdom
  • Wii Music (it is quality, even if you don't like it)
  • Sam & Max: Season One

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit
