A person I know is selling his car... a Lexus ES300, year 1994... the car is beautiful... it doesn't look like an old car. It looks way better than many 2000 cars.

This person wants only $2000 dlls. The car is in great condition.

My question is: does anyone has experiencie with a similar car? Are the part and maintainment very expensive? I was browsing some webpages like Advance Auto Parts and the typical parts, like a timing belt, and the price is similar to most cars.

Should I buy it?

Never buy a used luxury car if you have to worry about how much repairs will cost.

The car is in great condition... he is selling the car because he already has a new one, and wants to buy another one.

I guess I could buy it... I need to check some parts prices, just in case in needs a repair.

Get a mechanic to look over it, because even though it's your friend, there might be a chance there's something wrong with the car (that both of you don't even know about), and you don't want to feel like he ripped you off if later down the track something happens to it that neither of you could foresee.

Also, drive it yourself first (if you haven't), because you'll regret buying a car that you don't even enjoy driving later on.
