Forums - Sales - What countries are tracked by GFK?

Anyone?

Around the Network

Lots, but I am not certain how many.

France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia (and N.Z) are definates... I think they do South Africa too.

Portugal I am unsure of, same for anything further East or North of the European countries I already mentioned.

Chart-Track do the UK, Ireland and Denmark... but I remember something about GfK buying Chart-Track, so ???? to that as well.

Well, GfK track consumer electronics including video game consoles in many countries, but track software in a lot less, so I'll just include countries which I know that they are the main software tracker:

Africa:

South Africa:

Asia Pacific:

GfK in Asia currently tracks Game Consoles sold in the retail scene of Asia for China (7 cities), Korea (8 Regions and on line), Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Japan a total of 8 countries.

GfK Asia plans to track Game Software in more countries of Asia soon within the next 12 months and the current firm plan includes Taiwan, Korea and Singapore.

GfK has been tracking Oceania countries from the year 2000 for Australia and 2003 for New Zealand. In Australia, GfK measures a retail scene with more than 2700 shops selling games software while in New Zealand the retail scene measured contains more than 500 shops.

"Due to Asia's less organized sales distribution routes, games software retail sales can be challenging with an estimated universe of over 500 shops in Hong Kong, more than 1000 shops in Taiwan, about 1000 shops in Korea and more than 400 shops in Singapore.

Australia
Hong Kong
New Zealand

Europe:

Benelux
Denmark
France
Germany
Ireland
Italy
Portugal
Spain
Switzerland
United Kingdom

Basically most of Western Europe, although I'm unsure about Finland, Norway, and Sweden. I have seen Nordic data in GfK reports before, but I'm unsure if they tracked this themselves, or obtained it from the National software associations. For these countries we get data from:

Finland: Figma
Norway: NSM
Sweden: MDTS

This just leaves Austria in Western Europe, OVUS, the Austrian software association say they aim to set up Austrian software charts with GfK, but they have yet to do so, at least publicly.

I have read about plans to track software sales in some Eastern European countries aswell, but nothing has come of this as of yet.
