Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Mrstickball's 'RRoD Experience' Thread..Find out how long MS takes to fix!!

if your console last 3 years, that's not too bad. I've got a near launch elite, so I'm hoping it within 3, so I can get a new jasper with built-in 256mb card. BtW, is that what you got back mrstick?

You pretty much get back a refurbished version of whatever you sent in. I sent in a Falcon manufactured Dec. 2007, got back a Falcon manufactured Oct. 2007. They clean all the cases but the one I sent in was spotless, the one I got has a few minor scuffs.

If you send in a unit with no HDMI, you'll get one back with no HDMI.

Mine crapped out a couple months ago. Called MS and they sent that eslip. I found a box at work and shipped it off. It took a week to get it back. Last year, it took like 3 weeks. Glad you are gaming again.

Crap....so my best bet is to sell my elite now, and get a new jasper elite...but I was trying to hold out until M$ comes out with a beefier elite....with more bells and whistles, like a bigger HDD...oh well...better do it now, rather than later.  Damn...don't wanna shell out the 400 bucks tho.

Sadly, no.

I got an old 360 which has a MFG date of 5/29/06 :-\

I haven't bothered checking the internals to determine what's inside of it yet, but I'm going to assume it's probably the newer-esque one with some fixes. IMO, I wouldn't be suprised if it crapped out in 2-3 years. But it's not like it matters to me - it's free.

Deathgod33 - to be fair, it took a little over 2 weeks, despite the fact that I waited 5 days to send it off to get fixed. Best case scenario, I could of had it back in a little over a week.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I know I couldnt believe it. I was actually up in my inlaws boxing day when my wife phoned to say the courier was here to collect it.

I hadnt even got it packed so she told him to call back next day which he did.

So I actually lost a day myself.

Hehehe, same thing happened to me... they didn't send you the coffin in Europe. But UPS spain is excellent (an old acquitance of me works there), the courier took it and said he'd pack it at the office. After that, I do keep the box they sent back...

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

I received the emailed UPS mailing label a matter of minutes after getting off the phone with support. I, unlike Mr lazy stickball rushed to my UPS store and had my 360 mailed out in under an hour.

The MS instructions email came 8 hours after I mailed my 360. Here it is for your reading pleasure.

Turn around time depends on how close you live to Texas where the repair facility is. MS will ship your 360 back out 2-3 days after UPS marks it delivered. If you sent in an HDMI 360, you get an HDMI 360 back. If you send in a pre-HDMI 360, you get a pre-HDMI 360 back.

Don't rely on the MS site to check if they have received/sent back your 360. They are slow in updating it. It may have already been shipped back before they update it as received.

Feel free to ship it back in the original 360 box if you don't mind not getting it back. It takes a special kind of stupid theif to steal something being mailed to "repair facility". Keep the box they mail it back in, just in case you get a future RROD.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

I use towel trick and fix my console. Within two hours I am back playing it. However have to repeat towel trick every three days. My X360 is three years old and no longer under warranty.
