The 360 is 5.9 million away from 20 million in America.
The PS3 is 3.31 million away from 10 million in America.
Even earlier in the year when the PS3 was beating the 360 worldwide every week the 360 put up a fight in NA and won some weeks. We have 4 very strong weeks left, the 360 is doing well in its strongest market at the strongest time of year.
So can it?
I will say yes, but that amount of sales will take a good year to happen and who knows what will happen between now and them.
A lot depends on how the consumers react to the next PS3 price cut and major games like Killzone 2.
I will say PS3 will hit 10 million first.
I don't see major games like Killzone 2 doing any better then the other major games like Resistance FoM 2 or SOCOM. They may sell decent to PS3 owners, but I doubt it will drive someone to buy a PS3 to play it.
If the 360 outsells the PS3 by over 2-1 this holiday, I'd expect to start seeing 3rd party PS3 cancellations.

Definitely a possibility, especially if MS matches Sony's supposed price cut.
No X360 needs to sell 2.6 million more than PS3 in America. But it will be close.

ookay? they'll ignore 42% of the HD console base...very unlikely with current dev costs. You're implying that games like cod6 will skip the ps3? Yeah right.

I agree, the PS3 isn't going to lose any third party support.
COD6 will be on PS3, but if it wasn't it would still sell like hotcakes on 360 alone.
it depends on when Sony gives the PS3 a price cut. if sony gives it a price cut within the first 5 months of 2009 i say no, but if sony decides not to cut the price until late 2009 i say 360 will reach 20 mil before ps3 reaches 10
