I wonder if those 360 fanboys (and other PS3 tech doubters) feaverishly comparing and hyping very minor porting differences (due to tech differences, due to development being lead on 360) now feel like eating crow when watching such videos.

IMO many of the attacks on people trying to point the potential of the PS3 hardware were completely unfounded. These videos should demonstrate this well enough.

I have only seen two of the videos, so excuse me if I'm talking prematurely.

The levels I've seen look quite dark, so it's hard to tell detail except at very short distances (I imagine other levels are different though). Also, on that video at jeuxvideo.tv, isn't that a framerate drop at 01:05?

EDIT - more potential frame drops throughout the video, for example around 02:12?

EDIT2- I've opened several more videos and I didn't find a single level yet which isn't so dark. I understand that may be the atmosphere they were aiming for, but it doesn't impress me graphically. The character models look good, and I like the effects, but on the whole the darkness makes it too easy to disguise the lack of detail in the level's geometry and textures. Fortunately, I haven't noticed framerate drops outside of that one video.

LOL at the haters, your complaining are most personal than constructive points,go to your systems and games of your choice an stop the moaning on subjects that you can't care.

NJ5: Look at the Snipers video. It's the one set in the desert, during day time. All the other videos we've seen so far are from the same dark city.

Unless the videos from that link are just too dark, you should open your eyes more or try a different site.

I've seen the one at jeuxvideo and some from the link in the OP. These levels are just dark. Did you see them? No need to be aggressive, it's not like I'm pounding on the game.

Thanks, that video is much better to see what they did in terms of graphics. I like the geometry and the effects are quite good.

All in all, if the final game stands up to these videos and the framerate is solid, it's definitely a step forward in some technical areas (not textures though).

I'm not trying to be aggressive. I'm merely saying that when compared to all the earlier footage of the game, it shouldn't be difficult at all to see details.

Ground, weapons, characters or effects, it's all there and easy to see.

Also, that the level in that video is the one with the storm going on and it's darker than the other two levels that I've seen in videos (the beach level and the desert level).

It's hard to see much of the ground at a distance except in the Snipers video. Many areas of the map are really dark. I'm not criticizing that, in fact it may be interesting in terms of atmosphere (too hard to know from videos), but it's not something which adds to the game technically.

The retail build will be improved up from the one we're seeing at the moment. Notable improvements include:

-- Better voice acting,
-- Less glitches,
-- A more stable frame rate,
-- Slightly tweaked colours in Visari Square,
-- Low-res texture to be replaced by higher res ones.

Again, the setting in that video is dark with that storm going on. In fact, I'm thinking that the darkness and the storm give a really great example of the lighting and shadow effects (like when the lightning strikes and lights everything up). There are more levels than just that, like the beach landing level for instance which takes place in daytime and still looks nice.

The game is a large step above everything else on consoles in all areas, except maybe polygon count and textures, and even those are very impressive, and you'll be hard pressed to find a game with better.

Just look at the particle effects!

And the lighting.  EVERYTHING in this game has a dynamic shadow.  Even the (larger) chunks of debris that fall from destructible pillars (not including the tiny bits that disappear in a few seconds).  Even Gears 2 doesn't touch that.
