I've got it and think its pretty good.
No man running around, you just use a cursor to place your turrets and there isn't any co-op.

Is it a pretty standard tower defense game? Any peculiarites to it?
Yeah its a pretty standard tower defense game. Survive the waves to finish the level and there is a vengence mode with unlimited waves.
I like tower defense games and if you do too I think you will enjoy it
I love 'em. Will probably get this when it releases here.
can you repair towers? Can you upgrade towers? Are there set spots where you can build towers and its down to what types of towers you put down or can you build towers anywhere and you can flood the map with towers?
You can upgrade towers and repair them. There is only so many spots where you can build towers.
It's a pretty well thought out tower defense game.. and HARD XD
But it's a good game..I also have it.
Basically you have areas where you can build and areas where you can't however these vary for each level. If thers scorched earth you can't build there, but if there isn't you can. Monsters will most likely attack your towers if they are in the way though, and shooting monsters will even if they aren't.
There are also crasy ass HP monsters who got like a gazillion hp XD and bosses too ! :P
The buying functions as a menu where you can buy turrets on 1 "line" if you press up or down you'll go to another line. If you press up, youll be able to research additional tech. Like the ability to upgrade to higher levels, build new towers, etc. There are both Repair type and Aura type towers. (and a bunch of other ones)
If you press up to the next line, you'll be able to advance the next wave of enemy monsters and do other kind of varous crap (like view their stats i dunno, i only use it to advance waves :P) and finally (so far these are the ones i've unlucked, i'm not sure if there are more) if you press up again you'll be able to focus your effort.
Focusing your towers can be done in 3 directions. But within these there are multiple different combinations. The three directions are "Armor, Damage and Money"
They should be fairly obvious. Money gives you more money per critter you kill, armor gives your towers more HP, and Damage allows you to pour more hurting onto thy enemys.
If you choose to up the armor, your damage and money will take a small hit. However, you can choose to up, for instance both Armor and Money, whereas the only thing taking a hit will be damage. It will take a bigger hit though, and armor and money won't be "upped" as much.
It's a pretty deep game and it's great fun.
There is 1 issue. You might wanna log out of psn when you start it (i dunno if they patched this away yet so it's no longer an issue) because the game freezes for some after the first level. If they are signed into psn. If they aren't it doesn't (it's only for some people though, but i'm one of them :P)
In either case, despite the small flaw i'll deffo say that if you like this type of game, it's more than worth it. I hope my post was of some help :)
so is it roughly the same mechanics as pixeljunk monsters?
