I saw a gameplay vid on IGN. It almost put me to sleep. What does Killzone 2 have which is in any way unique? I've seen some people say story, but Bioshock looks like it has a far more interesting story and engaging atmosphere. |
Everybody is different. I can look at most Halo 3 footage, yawn and think what's so unique about it? I see friends and people on the internet on the verge of wetting themselves just because they see the Mastercheif kicking somebody out of a tank or dual wielding weapons. In a way, that is kind of cool, but how is it THAT amazing that it should shake the very foundation of the industry?
Halo 1- My friends and I were blinded by the fact it was a cool new game and (at it's time) looked awesome. After one playthrough (even during the first one), all I could begin to see was a slow runner going through repetative levels and many areas of a level looked almost the EXACT same as other areas in the level and made traveling kind of confusing. The factor that made continued play so fun was that it was fun to get 4-16 people together and all play and aslo trying to glitch the game to see what kind of stunts we could do.
Halo 2- Having people I know hype up every talked about new feature as the best thing to ever happen to an FPS ever, even claiming that Halo 2 was going to be 10x times better than Half-Life 2 in every aspect (yea, that flew well with me. . . ) destroyed the Halo series for me. Once I was finially able to play the game, I couldn't help but simply think, 'And this is amazing, how?'.
Halo 3- Everybody treats it the exact same way and based on past experiences with Halo 2, I have little feeling about this game except for wanting to know how the story ends. In fact, all I can say is. . .'So?'
Don't take this as hate on Halo, I have Halo on the PC and play it every once in a while (it's hard to get into the online, it was badly done) and I'd have Halo 2 if Microsoft didn't decide to make it Vista only.
Killzone 1 and 2 are not my favorite FPS games, the Half-Life series is (if that'll help where I am coming from). I can just as easily question other games like Halo as other can question Killzone 2. We're all going to have our reasons for wanting a specific game.
