I'll tell you why it is amazing. Did you see the game? That is why it is amazing. No tricks, no nothing, did you see how it played at E3?

I saw a gameplay vid on IGN.

It almost put me to sleep.

What does Killzone 2 have which is in any way unique? I've seen some people say story, but Bioshock looks like it has a far more interesting story and engaging atmosphere.

Everybody is different. I can look at most Halo 3 footage, yawn and think what's so unique about it? I see friends and people on the internet on the verge of wetting themselves just because they see the Mastercheif kicking somebody out of a tank or dual wielding weapons. In a way, that is kind of cool, but how is it THAT amazing that it should shake the very foundation of the industry?

Halo 1- My friends and I were blinded by the fact it was a cool new game and (at it's time) looked awesome. After one playthrough (even during the first one), all I could begin to see was a slow runner going through repetative levels and many areas of a level looked almost the EXACT same as other areas in the level and made traveling kind of confusing. The factor that made continued play so fun was that it was fun to get 4-16 people together and all play and aslo trying to glitch the game to see what kind of stunts we could do.

Halo 2- Having people I know hype up every talked about new feature as the best thing to ever happen to an FPS ever, even claiming that Halo 2 was going to be 10x times better than Half-Life 2 in every aspect (yea, that flew well with me. . . ) destroyed the Halo series for me. Once I was finially able to play the game, I couldn't help but simply think, 'And this is amazing, how?'.

Halo 3- Everybody treats it the exact same way and based on past experiences with Halo 2, I have little feeling about this game except for wanting to know how the story ends. In fact, all I can say is. . .'So?'

Don't take this as hate on Halo, I have Halo on the PC and play it every once in a while (it's hard to get into the online, it was badly done) and I'd have Halo 2 if Microsoft didn't decide to make it Vista only.

Killzone 1 and 2 are not my favorite FPS games, the Half-Life series is (if that'll help where I am coming from). I can just as easily question other games like Halo as other can question Killzone 2. We're all going to have our reasons for wanting a specific game.

Because as much ass many of you want to deny it. Graphics do matter!!!

Give Resistance Gears or Killzone graphics and it would have done double its sales and moves systems like crack.

lol did he say much ass ?

you are right though but I don't think you can compare the sale of KZ 1 res with GOW....

and KZ 2 wont be the last graphical evolution. for both console it will improve....

Laugh for what? Killzone is correct, graphics do matter, people arent going to buy console games that look like a nintendo 64 game, they're going to buy the one with the best graphics. To casuals they take graphics over gameplay which is stupid.

Then why is the ps3 in last place? It has the best graphical power so shouldn't it be selling out like the Wii since it has the best graphics?

Bet with OriGin: Within 1 year Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be ahead of Mario Kart Wii (when aligning the one whole year from each region). 2 week ban from Vgchartz for the loser. Edit: Darn! Looks like OriGin will win.

Ps3 is in last place becuase of the price, and I didnt say console I said console games, the wii's graphics arent as bad as the n64 ther're as good as the original xbox which isnt bad, but if your game has the best graphics it will sell, look at crysis, there demonstration at e3 07 was terrible but people stilll want it for graphics.

Oh, I didn't realize you said console games. Still I'm sure some games that don't have super good graphics still sold well. BTW the wii's graphics are better than xbox's. ;^)

But will these pretty games be any good?

" Doesn't matter! Eye candy! Real time weapon change! Enemies reacting to being shot! Rhinos grazing! Realistic grass AI! Look at it sway!"

That's all nice and good. And I don't doubt that games with nice visuals will sell (which kind of sucks), but for supposed 'hardcore' gamers, we should know better than that. Let's try not to get wrapped up in games and start claiming they're the Messiah just because a trailer melts your eyes.

I picked up MLB 2k7 the day it came out. It looked fantastic. The models and player movement were insane. The best I've ever seen in a baseball game. The game itself is very flawed. The pitching aspect is about the only thing that doesn't suck. Hitting is broken. You either strikeout or hit a homer. The Fielding camera is horrible. When put in play, the baseball is hard to find. And it never saves your custom sliders. You're forced to repeatedly set them every time you want to play. Within a month I went straight back to MVP 2005 because, while the visuals aren't as impressive, the gameplay is fantastic.

This is just my experience, though. Graphics do matter, yes, but they should never be given top priority. You can't just slap them on any game and expect a Game of the Year Candidate or a huge seller. I'd like to think consumers are smarter than that, but I'm probably wrong.

Current systems owned: Wii, 360. I'll get a PS3 when hell freezes over!... or when the price drops to a reasonable level. Whichever comes first.

Why do you think gears sold so well, it was the graphics. This is the best selling game so far this generation and it continues to sell well each week.

The wii/xbox are about the same overall, the wii has some better stuff and the xbox has some. Plus the original xbox has games that the wii still cannot match. This is a fact not some fanboy post.

This generation has just started, the PS3 has nowhere to go but up. $100 price drop and the system doubles in sales. One good game and the system will sell 10% more each week. When this generation is over the PS3 and the wii will be very close in sales.
