Forums - Sony - Keyboard/Mouse Support for Unreal Tournament III on PS3!

http://kotaku.com/gaming/click-and-type/unreal-tournament-iii-to-have-mousekeyboard-support-285986.php

Here is what one of the Epic designers said on their forums:

"Folks,

I checked with Steve Polge and he said that YES we are supporting keyboard and mouse in Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3. He is confident we are doing it in a way that will be balanced without feeling "gimped" for either side. We'll also allow people to choose whether or not they want to allow mixed controller vs. keyboard/mouse games or not.
I think you guys are going to love UT3!

More details to come later."

This is a pretty revolutionary step for consoles.  As far as I know, and PLEASE correct me if I am wrong, this is one of the first times, if not the first time this has been done.  I don't know if this can be done on the 360 because it has much more closed architecture.  MS also doesn't allow peripheral keyboards that they didn't make...

Note: Some posters in the Kotaku thread said this change convinced them to buy the game for the PS3 or even to buy a PS3 instead of upgrading their PC.  Any thoughts on that?

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Around the Network

Well now i have a good reason for getting a bluetooth keyboard/mouse!!

I hope the single player is good, that would make the game one of this seasons must buys.

And thus, the lines continue to get blurred.

Yes Killzone, you're going to grow a pair of Ds.

It's definitely a big deal to me, Akuma, and this means we are getting closer to being suited to my FPS/RTS tastes.

My usual odd consideration: Well, I like playing games in my nice recliner with the controller in my hand. Suddenly, I'm requiring a table now. Damnit. Well, it's awkward, but it does enable. Though I can't recline very well and play, guess I may as well get a desk chair. Hell, may as well plop a desk in front of my TV. Well, this isn't as convenient as I thought. At least it's kinda like playing on a 46 inch monitor.

Of course, this is void if you play your PS3 on a setup similar to a computer, at that point it's more convenient and does allow computer controls (hopefully) on a fps.

Still stand by my line blurring comment, even with confusing response that may be one boy's hope that he will grow breasts.

Just thinking of the money i could make.

u need this

I hope more developers do this. I have never been into PC FPS's, so the controller is fine with me, but this is a big deal to a lot of people. In no way can this be a bad thing, unless the controls are just horrendous on the keyboard somehow, which I highly doubt.
