Forums - Gaming - August Purchase Thread

List anything and everything game related that you acquire in the month of August.

So far just one game for me:

Never played the original gamecube game so this was totally new territory for me. First Wii game I've bought since April and Paper Mario and I like it a lot. This is exactly the kind of game I would never play alone but would play for hours against someone else.

So many things that I like, very little motion stuff, traditional controls, the ability to make a comeback at any time and just overall really really competitive nature and fun. The team structures and choices are also well done and balanced enough to give everyone a shot at winning. Was thinking of just renting this but I bought it instead and I'm glad to say it doesn't disappoint at all.

I'd give it an 8/10 if I were to rate it.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

So far just Mario Strikers Charged and I'm loving every second of it. There's really nothing I don't like about the game and the only complaint I have are the friend codes which really isn't the developers fault.

what's your friend code ck?

360: Bioshock, Two Worlds (depending on reviews)
Wii: Truama centre (eventually it's here)

Thats all. September looks like it going to be a big month for games in the EU.

Nintendo DS.

Elite Beat Agents
Metroid Prime Hunters
Project Rub
Mario Kart DS

All 'bought' DS and Project Rub will arrive tomorrow and the rest of the games next week. Very much looking foward to it.

I'll be buying both Bioshock and Two Worlds as well.

I've begun sharpening my TF skills in preparation for the release of TF2. I've been practicing about 2-3 hours a day, so that's pretty much all my gaming time. My next gaming purchase is HL2:E2 in early October.

Marathon 2: Durandal and so far I don't like it. I regret getting it. I didn't play multiplayer and I don't think I will. I liked Doom on the xbox live arcade but I'm not enjoying this game. It gave me headaches like the original quake and wolfenstein. I also loose my way alot and that also gives me a headache. I should have just gotten sonic, which btw is awesome (I played the demo).

I think in the July thread you also mentioned that we should write what we are planning to buy, so I'll write how that looks like for me at the moment since I haven't bought a game yet.

At the moment, I think RE4 is my next game. I have never played a RE game yet (I know, shame on me) altough I planned to buy the Cube games, but there was always another game that I prefered. But now I think it is time to try it.
I won't buy it before I have finished Children of Mana though, my summer holidays are over soon and that means I won't play two games similarly any more because of a lack of spare time.
Other games I'm thinking about are FFV, Pokemon, Mario Strikers and Mario Party.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

All for the DS from Amazon:

Advanced Wars: Dual Strike ($40)

[I had this game on my To Buy EVENTUALLY List, but after hearing everyone say how great it truly was, I just payed the $40 for it. I won't be picking up Strikers for a while, though, since this cut into my planned budget]

Animal Crossing: Wild World ($30)

[My brother finally picked it up. I was expecting to get it around October]

Polarium ($10)

Meteos ($15)

Tetris DS ($20)

Picross DS($20)

Brain Age 2 ($20) [Pre-ordered ]

AND, at the end of the month:

Reserved

Never heard of Polarium, what is it?

And on Wednesday I finally went to spend the $50 Best Buy gift card I had to get this for free+tax.

At the same time I picked up this 'cause it's cheap and I love the paper versions and I loved the demo.

'Lo and behold my Best Buy gift card was really $100!  What to do with the $30 left over, then....hmm, I wonder what good game I could pick up for $30....

There's lots of other games I want this month but nothing I'm likely to buy since these and my July purchases will keep me busy probably through September.
