A) Gaming in Japan will never go down the tubes.

B) EVEN IF IT DID (and I want to stress that it won't) playing the devil's advocate none-the-less, the United States is the big fish now in the gaming market.  We buy more games than any other nation (and this has nothing to do with the attach rate, because it's irrelevant in this discussion)

I don't know the exact long term numbers, but we buy nearly 3 in 10 of all games sold world wide. 

And let's not exclude the EU's importance in this discussion.  Gaming (especially in the UK and Germany) has really cemented itself there as well... and the EU market for gaming is constantly growing.

I still cant understand how you can "Hate" a company that revolutionised music with the walkman, made the PS brand, makes Bravia LCDs, makes super movies, good laptops, radios, headphones and much much more. Sony are of very high quality and have alot of Style. They are also very innovative ( see Sony Rolly) and are responsible for introducing various formats like "CD" and "Blu Ray." Only Samsung can touch them.

I completely understand your dislike for Sony as I've had Very angry conversations with their customer service for many devices in the past. Starting with my Sony Clie. I think your controller copying theory might have some ground because the idea for the original Playstation was pitched to Nintendo before they even made it, and Nintendo refused the idea. So yah being that they Sony and Ninitendo were very briefly working with eachother I'm not surprised by the resemblance in joystick.
