Well they may mean that you should rent the game instead. That would make sense to me since the review labels the game as average, but not necessarily bad, which would warrant a rent from a fan of the genre. My only real disappointment was they didn't seem to like Valkyria quite as much as I did, but I forgive them.

I need to forgive them for two reviews.... Dragon Quest VIII 96% (way too high) and Suikoden II 80%/84%/85% (too low)
Still, they've given Suikoden V a 95% and Persona 3 FES a 98%, so they know what they're doing

The Tales series is so fun because of how well it does these "cookie cutter characters" and "lame stories". Plus, it does these things many, many, MANY times better then most other JRPGs. And the articles writer just sounds pissed because he doesn't see the "changes in the series".

Um, big surprise buddy, why change an awesome formula? Linears Motion battle system? Has he never played Vesperia?

And all you need to do to see the changes in the Tales series is look at any game from Phantasia to Vesperia and look at its predecessor. This guy needs to change his underwear and get on with life.
