If Wiis become readily available, I think you'd see sales drop off pretty severely. People are holding off on buying the PS3/360 until the price drops. The Wii is already cheap, just unavailable.

If Wii's become readily available, sales would jump dramatically through the end of this year.  With SMG and SMBB in Nov. and Dec., I could see the Wii selling as many as they put out in those 2 months.  If they could push out 5-6 million units in Nov. and Dec., they would still sell out.  As for 2008, hard to say whether it can continue the momentum it has.

The PS3 does need to get to $350 or less before it would be able to move Wii type numbers, if even then.  2008 is make or break for the PS3 with many top games coming out.  If MGS4 and FFXIII are delayed into 2009, that would be devastating.

I think people are waiting just as much for the next hardware rev. on the 360 as they are for a price cut.  I suspect alot of people will wait some 6 months+ after the new hardware rev. is out to see how it is performing before taking the plunge.

Yeah it's just weird because the PS2 had this same momentum every year... I wonder if the Wii can keep up with it.

Well, you guys have a point about holiday spikes and I have no doubt that it will affect sales thereafter but how much of this will be reflected in 2007 is yet to be seen. All console sales are decreasing on the average regardless of recent or occasional increases.

- Wii sales have not gone up but slightly decreased. It was estimated to be 16 mil at current rate before but this decreased to less than 15.

- PS3 sales have shrunk drastically in all territories from estimates in excess of 7 mil to below 5 mil at current rates. The recent developments made over 5 million probable though.

- 360 sales have long been detoriating, now estimated below 12 at current rates.

All this given are quite pessimistic scenarios though. This is why I use an interval for a probable regain of momentum in sales for about 1-1,5 million more for each console. The holiday spikes WILL affect the sales but this will be more apparent in 2008. The affect in 2007 will be quite moderate. We can be looking at a very different picture after June 30th of 2008.

You guys keep doubting the ps3 as usual...you should make a chart that shows what would happen if they release a model priced at $399.99 this holiday season..

yes...and why not 299$? ...at present you should consider that BEFORE a price cut to 399$  in US market there must be a price cut in Europe (That's still paying for a PS3 more than 700$ at current exchange rates)...so i think that's very unlikely to see a PS3 under 500$ during this holyday season...probably we'll see the 80gig model at 499 when the 60gig is phased out though (and this could happen before christmas and may have HUGE impact on sales: 80 gig + 2 games is a good deal)

2008 year end sales (made in January 2008):
