Swamp zone 3 from the original monster hunter.

That level is EPIC. You have grains of wheat flowing on screen with no slowdown at all and fog in the distance, when you fight a huge monster in there it just feels so epic...
I'm trying to find a video of it or at least a picture but can't find one yet.

EDIT:  Ok well i found a video of a level thats....somewhat similat but not nearly as epic. It's from monster hunter 2. Swamp zone area 8. The first monster hunter swamp zone is better because its HUGE theres no valley keeping you in. It really feels like its just you and the monster unless your online of course.

Two recent ones stick out in my mind:

From Braid, the world where when you walk to the right, times goes forward and when you walk to the left time goes backwards. It's amazing just how perfectly those levels are planned out.

From Left4Dead: The hospital level. The atmosphere in that level is amazing, especially when you get on the top floors. I almost crapped my pants the first time a zombie came through the wall.
