My friend works at a local Costco (kinda like a Wal-Mart for those who don't know), and he said their stock on Xbox360 Arcades and Wiis were CLEARED out.

When I asked him which Wii games were the hot picks, he told me that all the people were looking at was Wii Music and Guitar Hero, especially Guitar Hero. People were looking at the Wii section all day.

When I asked him if any PS3s sold, he said nope, not any significant amount. Maybe 1 or 2.

My other friend went to stores around the city and people were pretty much fighting. Some woman was complaining about her not getting a TV, so some guy actually picked up the TV and threw it. THREW IT!

He said a lot of people bought Xbox360s (all gone) and the large Wii piles were sold out quickly, from Circuit City to Best Buy. He didn't notice anyone buying a PS3.

Newspaper article this morning (Morgantown, WV Dominion Post -- not available on-line for free so I can't link it) said that Wii was hot

"Area stores say Wii among top picks: Economy isn't affecting sales" was the headline (and subheadline). Story also notes that all game consoles were expected to do well.
