Keep the current letter grade system (A+, B-, etc.)( I don't mind it, but i could be subjective)

Score out of 100% using each point. (maybe, it is more accurate, but does come with problems)

Score out of 10 using half points. (Less accurate, but usually won't change the rating already there)

Score out of 10 using whole points. (Nope, too inaccurate)

Switch to a 5-star system (Definitely not.)

Don't use grades at all, just text. (Great, but aren't the reviews supposed to bring attention to the site? This might not help)

What satisfies you is not what constitutes a proper scoring system.

So what exactly is the best scoring/grading system?

Generally, the less absolute a scoring system is, the better. So 5/5, thumbs up/thumbs down, or no scores at all.

Absolute values are to be avoided.

The "and i quote" percentage of poeple would disagree with that, especially considering that using a percentage scoring system is singlehandedly almost beating all the other scoring/grading/A+ systems combined.

Real values or face value? hhhmmmmmmm

The fact that gaming journalism and gaming review systems are currently a jokee doesn't change the fact that the ideal is less specific and more in line with something like what Yahtzee does (or what many movie/book/music critics do).

Fair enough, but i would trust an 89% score more than i would trust any grade or 4/5

You're not supposed to trust a score.

You are supposed to trust a review.

Get rid of scores entirely, or reduce them to simple, easily identified tiers, and that solves the problem of reviews "sounding like" their scores.

If 2 games both score 4/5 they are considered equal right? BUT, if the same 2 games get 96% and 84% respectively then its clear to me which is the better game.

No, they are not considered equal. Games with the same score are not neecessarily the same quality, because scores are not absolute statements of quality. One 4/5 game can be better than another 4/5 game.

Ok, you have read both reviews and they both got 4/5, does that mean you should absolutely buy both?
